Job Requirements

UK Regional Controller

The UK Regional Controller is responsible for the company’s financial reporting, accounting, controllership and compliance functions, including the enforcement of policy and procedure, for all sites in the UK. The incumbent will act as the Alkegen Corporate Accounting and Compliance representative for all of the UK operating and holding sites. This individual will interact directly with senior management.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

UK Compliance and Monthly Close, Overall:

  • Enforce Alkegen finance policies and standard operating procedures (including for inventory, capital spend, leasing, and any/all other relevant areas)

  • Support monthly close process for all UK sites; effectively leverage resources (Pune, etc) to build efficiencies into the close process. Support close process at operating sites as needs arise.

  • Lead team of 2-3 accountants

  • Ensure accurate recording of transactions; own the full closing process for UK holding companies and other sites as required

  • Prepare accounting for complex transactions and those requiring judgement

  • Serve as point of contact and expert for local ERPs (SAP and SAP B1)

  • Key point of contact for local ERP to Alkegen consolidated reporting (OneStream)

  • Key expert for UK GAAP to US GAAP reconciliation

UK Statutory Responsibilities:

  • Manage relationship with UK statutory auditors, oversee the UK statutory audit process start-to-finish.

  • Partner with CHQ Tax team to complete UK Tax Reporting for all UK legal entities (including holding companies and operating sites)

  • Ensure preparation of Statutory financial statements for all UK legal entities

Alkegen Corporate Compliance Responsibilities:

  • Key point of contact for PwC Global Audit in the UK, if and when UK sites are in scope

  • Partner with UK plant controllers to execute annual “Hard Close” Internal Balance Sheet Review for all UK operating sites

  • Work with Alkegen Internal Controls team to establish, standardize, and monitor control procedures, including account reconciliations and journal entry reviews

Governance/Legal

  • Partner with Alkegen legal services to ensure coverage of Company Secretary duties and insurance coverage

  • Partner with UK Finance, HR, and Management on UK Pension Reporting and Covenant Compliance

Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Needed):

  • At least 5 years of experience in a Regional Controller role with Complex Industrial Company or similar experience

  • At least 8-10 years of experience in accounting, audit, and controllership

  • Experience managing a team

  • Track record of success in job performance

  • Collaborative leader who is confident and assertive in style, but respectful of others

  • Total Company mind-set and team oriented with the ability to develop a team and coach others, and earn the respect of other team members

  • Self-starter who seeks to add value

  • Demonstrated ability to lead change and drive execution

  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills needed to effectively share and engage the global organization in key strategic initiatives

  • Good teacher and leader within company in value-creation and financial concepts

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Worldwide Equivalent

  • CPA or equivalent worldwide designation preferred

  • Experience with SOX Requirements, Implementation, and Maintenance is a Plus
