Harbour View Inn Line Cook in Mackinac Island, Michigan

Line Cook. 7 temporary, full-time positions. 04/01/2025 to 11/05/2025. HIS -- Mackinac, Inc. d/b/a Hotel Iroquois and Harbour View Inn located at 6860 Main Street, Mackinac Island, MI  49757-0456 and 7485 Main Street, Mackinac Island, MI 49757. . Tasks include: Prepare soups, salads, appetizers, entrees, and desserts and specials on the kitchen line from prepared recipes and at the direction of the Executive Chef and Sous Chefs for service to customers. Use grill, sauté, bake and fry techniques to prepare quality menu items for fine dining a la carte service, catering, and outdoor BBQ. Butcher and dress animals, fowl, or shellfish, or cut and bone meat prior to cooking. Carve and trim meats such as beef, veal, ham, pork, and lamb for hot or cold service, or for sandwiches. Maintain a clean workspace and ensure it is prepared for the next service. 35 hours per week. 7am - 3pm and 3pm - 11pm; Sun-Sat. One day off per week. Days off and shifts vary. OT may be available and varies. No minimum education required.12 months prior kitchen experience required. Post-employment criminal background check and drug testing upon employer's reasonable suspicion of an employee's drug use. Wage: $15.44/hr. OT Wage: $23.16/hr. Workers paid bi-weekly. Optional lodging available at a cost to be deducted from pay if elected. Cost: $90/week for room only or $135/week for room and board (including meal plan with breakfast, lunch, and dinner). Housing deposit of $150 due upon arrival.

On the job training provided. Raises and/or bonuses may be offered to any worker in the specified occupation, at the company's sole discretion, based on individual factors including work performance, skill and tenure. Single workweek will be used to compute wages due. All deductions from the worker's paycheck required by law will be made. If the worker completes 50% of the work contract period, the employer will reimburse the worker for transportation and subsistence from the place of recruitment to the place of work. Upon completion of the work contract or where the worker is dismissed earlier, the employer will provide or pay for workers' reasonable costs of return transportation and subsistence back home or to the place the worker originally departed to work, except where the worker will not return due to subsequent employment with another employer or where the employer has appropriately reported a worker's voluntary abandonment of employment. The amount of transportation payment or reimbursement will be equal to the most economical and reasonable common carrier for the distances involved. Daily subsistence provided at a rate of at least $15.88/day during travel to a maximum of $59/day with receipts. H2B Workers will be reimbursed in the first workweek for all visa, visa processing, border crossing and other related fees, including those mandated by the government (except passport fees). Employer will provide workers at no charge all tools, supplies, and equipment required to perform the job, and guarantees to offer work for hours equal to at least three-fourths of the workdays in each 12-week period of total employment period.
