Description
We are offering a long-term contract employment opportunity in a local government entity for a Staff Accountant in Macon, Georgia, United States. The role will require a highly organized and detail-oriented professional to manage a variety of accounting tasks, including processing transactions and maintaining accurate records.
A four-year degree in accounting from an accredited college or university required.
Responsibilities
• Process accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions
• Complete bank reconciliation statements
• Maintain the general ledger and ensure its accuracy
• Prepare and post journal entries as required
• Assist in the month-end closing process
• Ensure all accounting practices align with GAAP principles
• Resolve customer inquiries related to accounting matters
• Monitor customer accounts and take appropriate action as required
• Maintain accurate customer credit records
• Process customer credit applications with accuracy and efficiency.
Requirements • Minimum of one year of experience in a Staff Accountant role, preferably in the Construction/Contractor industry
• Proficiency in Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR)
• Experience in Bank Reconciliations
• Solid understanding and experience with General Ledger
• Ability to prepare Journal Entries
• Familiarity with Month End Close procedures
• Knowledge of GAAP Accounting principles
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• High attention to detail and accuracy
• Proficiency in using accounting software and Microsoft Office suite
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field is preferred.
