Madison County Board of County Commissioners Firefighter/Paramedic in Madison, Florida
All applicants must possess current State of Florida Firefighter/Paramedic certification and meet all qualifications outlined on 64J-1.008 and 1.009 Florida Administrative Code at time of application.
Job Duties:
- Answer calls for assistance
- Render medical care and transportation
- Operate an emergency vehicle, medical equipment and communication equipment
- Assist at sporting events or other mass gatherings
- Make sure emergency vehicles are clean, stocked and operating
- Keep station clean and orderly
- Request supplies
- Attend all mandatory in-services and meetings
- May be requested to provide talks and training to organizations that request it
- Search burning buildings to locate fire victims.
- Rescue victims from burning buildings, accident sites, and water hazards.
- Administer first aid and cardiopulmonary resuscitation to injured persons.
- Dress with equipment such as fire-resistant clothing and breathing apparatus.
- Assess fires and situations and report conditions to superiors to receive instructions, using two-way radios.
- Move toward the source of a fire, using knowledge of types of fires, construction design, building materials, and physical layout of properties.
- Respond to fire alarms and other calls for assistance, such as automobile and industrial accidents.
- Create openings in buildings for ventilation or entrance, using axes, chisels, crowbars, electric saws, or core cutters.
- Drive and operate fire fighting vehicles and equipment.
- Inspect fire sites after flames have been extinguished to ensure that there is no further danger.
- Take action to contain hazardous chemicals that might catch fire, leak, or spill.
- Lay hose lines and connect them to water supplies.
- Position and climb ladders to gain access to upper levels of buildings, or to rescue individuals from burning structures.
- Select and attach hose nozzles, depending on fire type, and direct streams of water or chemicals onto fires.
- Complete run reports
- Additional duties maybe assigned by the E.M.S. Director or Shift Supervisor.
Full-time Firefighter/Paramedics will work (48 hours on/96hours off)
Employer does drug testing, background check, and motor vehicle records check.
