The Logistics Supervisor is responsible for the management of the scheduling, monitoring and administration of outbound and inbound shipments as well as the material movement throughout the facility from receiving to shipments.

Scope/Supervision and Interaction:

Position will report to the Division/Site Materials Manager or Division Supply Chain Manager. Position will manage personnel in material handling, shipping, and receiving departments. Works with team members in customer service, procurement, planners, quality, and accounting to strategically plan and coordinate the flow of materials and information from customers through order fulfillment

§ Promote and foster safe work environment

§ Responsible for day-to-day training and supervision of team members and maintaining attendance, and disciplinary action records for each direct report in a timely manner.

§ Manage all inbound and outbound, activities including receiving, stocking, picking, and shipping.

§ Assist with daily departmental functions as necessary including, but not limited to processing inbound and outbound orders, processing of customer returns, and aiding in inventory control.

§ Monitor carrier/supplier service against performance criteria.

§ Resolve problems concerning transportation, logistics systems, imports or exports or customer issues.

§ Ensure material is pulled and delivered to work cells to support customer demand.

§ Work closely with procurement, scheduling and manufacturing to ensure timely delivery of raw materials and finished goods

§ Select and negotiate local transportation supplier activity for pricing, strategic timing of material handling, shipping container/packaging, processing of damage claims and international transportation handling.

§ Maintain warehouse and consignment inventory utilizing cycle counting programs.

§ Use lean principles such as Kanban, Flow, and KPI metrics to optimize team performance.

§ Maintain appropriate shipping and receiving documentation and work instructions.

§ Troubleshoot inventory discrepancies and resolve in a timely manner.

§ Manage fast paced environment and adjust team priorities to adapt to customer requirements.

Education:

§ Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Operations Management, Business, Engineering, preferred

§ Professional Certification – APICS or ISM preferred.

Experience:

§ Minimum of 3-5 years’ experience in transportation and logistics

§ Minimum 1 year management experience required

§ Experience in materials management, supply chain, or operations preferred

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

§ Analytical and technical skills required to understand business practices and recommend proper automation opportunities

§ Demonstrated understanding of MRP, Excel, Microsoft word, email and PowerPoint

§ Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills for effective interface with all internal and external contacts

§ Understanding of lean enterprise principles and practices
