Rural Office of Community Services Chief Executive Officer (CEO) in Madison, South Dakota

TheRural Office of Community Services (ROCS){rel="noopener" target="_blank"}, a private non-profit agency serving South-Central and South-Eastern South Dakota since 1981, is looking for a dynamicChief Executive Officerto lead our organization. As our CEO, you will be at the helm of this mission, working closely with the Board of Directors and key staff to ensure our programs are effective, efficient, and impactful.

Responsibilities:

1. Leadership and Strategy:

  • Vision and Strategy:Collaborate with the Board to set and execute ROCS strategic vision and long-term plans.
  • Policy Development:Oversee the creation and implementation of organizational policies that align with legal requirements and ROCS goals.
  • Board Collaboration:Serve as the primary liaison to the Board, regularly reporting on performance, outcomes, and strategic initiatives.

2. Financial Management:

  • Budget Oversight:Lead the preparation and management of the annual budget, ensuring fiscal integrity and compliance.
  • Fundraising and Grants:Identify and pursue funding opportunities, including grant writing and fundraising activities.

3. Team Development:

  • Staff Supervision:Directly supervise Program Directors, fostering a collaborative work environment.
  • Talent and Performance Management:Oversee recruitment, training, and performance evaluations, ensuring professional development and staff retention.

4. Community Engagement:

  • Stakeholder Relations:Build strong relationships with government agencies, community organizations, and other stakeholders. Represent ROCS in public forums.
  • Media and Outreach:Act as the spokesperson, engage with the media, and lead community education efforts.

5. Operational Excellence:

  • Program Management:Ensure effective and efficient delivery of all ROCS programs, working closely with Program Directors.
  • Asset Management and Compliance:Oversee ROCS property, resources, and ensure compliance with laws and regulations.

6. Governance and Reporting:

  • Board Support:Prepare and present reports to the Board on operations, financials, and program performance.
  • Policy Implementation:Execute Board decisions and ensure staff adherence to policies.

7. Innovation and Growth:

  • Opportunity Identification:Identify and implement strategies for growth and innovation within ROCS.

8. Risk Management:

  • Risk and Crisis Management:Assess risks and develop strategies to mitigate them. Lead crisis management efforts to protect the organization.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Education and Experience:Degree in Administration, Business, Social Sciences, or a related field, or 5+ years of relevant experience, including 3 years in a leadership role. Experience in non-profit management is preferred.
  • Skills:Strong financial management, grant writing, and public relations skills. Ability to effectively communicate with diverse groups and maintain confidentiality.
  • Requirements:Valid South Dakota Drivers License and the ability to be bonded.
