JOB REQUIREMENTS: Job Summary: The Department of Radiology is seeking a Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) Physicist. This physicist will join the other MRI Physicists in the Department of Radiology, and duties will include clinical service and research responsibilities. Responsibilities: 50% Clinical MRI Physics Responsibilities: 1. Monitor and provide technical support for MRI imaging, with an emphasis on functional MR (fMR) imaging, of patients that require physics monitoring including and ensuring that novel and off-label fMR imaging methods are performed according to institutional policies and guidelines. 2. Assist in establishing institutional polices and guidelines regarding the safe and effective use of MR imaging equipment, including fMRI equipment and ancillary equipment necessary to effectively perform routine and novel clinical applications of fMRI. 3. Assist in customizing fMRI imaging hardware and/ or software (including off-label use), while ensuring conformity with regulatory constraints and instructional policies and guidelines. 4. Trouble-shoot clinical fMRI issues on the imaging equipment such as identifying and ameliorating image artifacts and other problems affecting clinical image quality and coordinate with MR and fMR imaging equipment vendors to ensure that the equipment used to perform clinical and research fMRI exams is properly and routinely serviced and maintained. 5. Contribute technical input to inform decisions regarding purchasing new MR and fMR imaging equipment, perform required acceptance testing of new MRI and fMR imaging equipment, and conduct ongoing Quality Assurance/ Quality Control (QA/ QC) of existing MR and fMR imaging equipment, including activities required for maintaining accreditation. Direct clinical staff in the performance of routine QA/ QC procedures. 6. Assist in developing clinical fMR imaging protocols. 7.
