Actalent Medical Lab Technician in Madison, Wisconsin

Medical Lab Technician (1st shift)

Job Description

We are looking for a dedicated Medical Lab Technician to join our team. In this role, you will spend 90% of your time performing daily lab work and 10% conducting data analysis. This position offers a better work-life balance compared to hospital or clinic settings. You will be "on call" every 8 weekends (2 months) on Saturday and Sunday, which is far less frequent than in hospital or clinic environments. Overtime is currently around 10-15%, but this will decrease once the team is fully staffed.

Hours: Training will be 7:30am-4:15pm. Once trained, can start between 6:00-9:00 a.m. and work a 8 hour shift

Responsibilities

The MLT will be processing samples from animals and perform testing in:

  • Chemistry: use a Roche cobas system (series of modular analyzers designed for clinical chemistry and immunochemistry testing)

  • Hematology: hematology analyzers from Sysmex

  • Coagulation: use ACL TOP 500 CTS- coagulation instrument (This system is highly automated and compact, designed for efficient and reliable hemostasis testing)

  • Urinalysis

  • Immunoassays: use IMMULITE series which includes advanced immunoassay systems designed for various laboratory needs

  • Gasses: ABL series includes advanced blood gas analyzers designed for critical care environments

  • Will also help with validations, run assays, do slide review, identify cell lines and bone marrow cell identification.

  • Will not be collecting samples

  • Will also help with study set up (set up tubes for collections)

Qualifications

  • B.S. Physical Sciences (Biology, Chemistry, Microbiology) OR accredited MLT/MLS program

  • ASCP certification is preferred

  • Experience with slide reviews and cell identification
