14456BRDepartment Name:HSP Pharmacy Operations Location:Meriter Hospital Job Description: Under the supervision of the Director of Pharmacy, the Pharmacy Operations Manager is responsible for the provision of safe, effective, appropriate and cost-effective pharmaceutical care promoting positive outcomes. Facilitates the development, implementation and monitoring of all operational pharmacy initiatives. Provides leadership within the pharmacy department by mentoring, educating and communicating the expectations. Serves as a liaison between the pharmacy and other providers and clinicians. Ensures medication use is developed and practiced in accordance with evidence-based care and/or best practices. Also, mentors and ensures competency of all operational pharmacy staff.

Job Duties:
Manages the daily operational activities of the department in an organized and efficient manner to provide for efficient and appropriate departmental services. Assigns work to accomplish goals for the day, accommodates for changes in workload or staff shortages due to illness and performs duties, when necessary, to meet workload assignments.
Manages and oversees pharmacy dispensing automation to ensure operational efficiency.
Manages and oversees sterile and non-sterile compounding practices to ensure compliance to USP standards.
Responsible for coordinating, developing and implementing operationally efficient and safe medication use systems.
Responsible for operational systems to assure appropriate prescribing, distribution, administration, and monitoring outcomes of the medication use process.
Write and/or review medication related policies and procedures.
Assure proper operational systems are in place to support the drug use processes in areas outside of pharmacy which includes OR, Clinics, Cath Lab and Radiology.
Schedules supportive personnel to provide consistency of coverage and to accommodate for scheduled time off. Organizes work to maximize the productivity within available resources.
Coordinates the activities of the Pharmacy Buyer related to purchasing of pharmaceuticals and contract negotiations.
Conceives, develops, and implements specific plans designed to improve operational efficiency.
Controls and accounts for all regulated substances in accordance with hospital and governmental regulations.
Acts as a representative of the pharmacy department on various interdepartmental committees.
Coordinates the personnel management of the central pharmacy technical and supportive staff
Efficient and effective drug distribution within the Meriter system (inpatient units, departments and clinics)
Oversee and monitor the purchase of pharmaceuticals
Recruit, interview and hire professional and technical staff, including residents.
Staff orientation, training and competency assessment.
Qualifications:
BS in Pharmacy or Pharm D
3-5 years of experience in a supervisory role managing pharmacy operations
Pharmacist license in State of WI.
Preferred Qualifications:
MS in Health Care Field or MBA
Pharmacy Residency
