Optum’s EHR Services represents one of the fastest growing practices within Optum Insight’s Advisory and Implementations business unit. The EHR Services practice is comprised of 600+ individuals across the U.S. and Ireland who are dedicated to improving the healthcare delivery system through the power of healthcare technology, specifically, the EHR and integrated applications and tools. By joining the EHR Services team, you’ll partner with some of the most gifted healthcare technology thought leaders within the industry, collaborate with experienced consulting and healthcare leaders, and help partners capture the benefits of their EHR investment.

Optum needs a solid Senior Technical Project Manager with hands-on integration (interfaces and conversions) experience to play a crucial role in ensuring the successful execution of EHR Services implementation projects. You will be pivotal in effectively managing integration project teams working in conjunction with other project leaders for large projects, and in owning and running integration specific projects. Your expertise in project management methodologies and hands-on experience with interface and conversion implementations will be vital in coaching, mentoring, and overseeing the completion of tasks.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage integration team interface and conversion related tasks and workstreams

  • Coach and mentor team members on interface development and implementation best practices from a project management perspective

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define interface requirements, specifications, and timelines

  • Develop and maintain project plans, schedules, and resource allocations to ensure timely completion of interface-related milestones

  • Monitor and track project progress, identifying potential risks or issues and implementing corrective actions as needed

  • Facilitate communication and coordination between technical and non-technical team members to ensure a seamless interface implementation process

  • Apply project management methodologies (e.g., Scrum, Six Sigma, Agile) to optimize project efficiency and quality

  • Provide regular updates and reports to senior management on project status, milestones achieved, and potential roadblocks

  • Recommend innovative ideas, processes, and procedures for enhancements, additions, and modifications to improve existing systems and practices

  • Create content (e.g., pitch decks, executive summaries, etc.) that can be used in business development and consulting meetings

  • Assist in establishing and maintaining organizational project management methodology and procedures

  • Ensure accuracy of all deliverables including presentations, contracts, and spreadsheets, requiring interface with Finance or Compliance/Legal as necessary

  • Ensure prompt escalation of challenges/issues that will impact the business and initiative delivery

  • Identify, escalate, and mitigate project risks and issues, communicating project status, and negotiate changes in project scope, resources, or timeline to ensure that the project sponsor and the partner or member are satisfied with project results

Required Qualifications:

  • 6+ years of experience with project management in the EHR integration space, or 8+ years of experience as a hands-on integration engineer

  • 4+ years of experience in business operations management, including analysis of business processes and workflows, and providing evaluations, benchmarks, and/or process improvement recommendations

  • Experience with Epic Bridges integrations

  • Familiarity with and preference for established project management methodologies such as Scrum, Six Sigma, Agile, etc.

  • Solid understanding of interface development concepts, best practices, and technologies

  • Demonstrated ability to manage projects within a defined timeline and budget, and management of project stakeholders

  • Highly proficient in Excel and PowerPoint

  • Proven solid analytical, problem-solving, and analytical thinking skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification

  • Epic Bridges certification

  • Experience working with fully remote project teams, matrixed org structures, and leading projects to successful completion

  • Problem-solving aptitude with the ability to identify challenges and proactively drive solution implementations

  • Exceptional leadership and interpersonal skills to coach, mentor, and guide team members

  • Ability to coach others to perform and achieve results

  • Proven knowledge of the EHR vendor and advisory services landscape

  • Familiarity with process improvement and software development methodologies (like Agile)

  • Consulting experience with a focus on analyzing and interpreting client and business needs and creating value through professional product/service delivery

California, Colorado, Connecticut, Hawaii, Nevada, New Jersey, New York, Rhode Island, or Washington Residents Only: The salary range for this role is $104,700 to $190,400 annually. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with all minimum wage laws as applicable. In addition to your salary, UnitedHealth Group offers benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements).
