This position performs technical responsibilities in support of the 24/7 needs of the Emergency and Critical Care units (ECC) of UW Veterinary Care (UWVC). Make a real difference in patients\' and their owners\' lives! Responsibilities: Veterinary Technician I (AN002) Veterinary Technician II (AN003) Veterinary Technician III (AN004) Tasks: Calling in the appropriate services and backup support after hours and weekends for patients Care and hourly treatment of CCU hospitalized patients Catheter placement (iv, urinary, etc.) Charge capture of services for patients Client communication and documentation Collection and submissions of lab samples Follows UWVC policies and procedures Maintenance and knowledge of equipment in the department and hospital Participates in the rotating OC shifts for the teaching hospital Participates in the training and mentoring of students, interns, technicians, assistants, and residents Pharmacy medication script fills for hospitalized animals Radiographs of patients Sedation and anesthesia for patients in the ECC Triage and stabilization of patients Bring a positive, helpful attitude to the unit Institutional Statement on Diversity: Diversity is a source of strength, creativity, and innovation for UW-Madison.
