Job Description

The Purchasing Agent reports to the Purchasing Supervisor and plays a vital role in ensuring efficient plant operations. As a Purchasing Agent, you are responsible for procuring office supplies, equipment, tools, products, and services to support IKO’s smooth functioning.

WHEN YOU JOIN US, YOU WILL:

  • Review requisition requirements and prepare accurate purchase orders. Solicit bids from various providers for products and services.

  • Develop and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) related to raw material inventory control and variance reporting.

  • Arrange for the disposal of surplus materials.

  • Conduct weekly raw material inventory counts and reconcile balances monthly. Monitor inventory levels and create requisition forms as needed.

  • Support plant Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) audit requirements. Ensure compliance with internal and external reporting standards.

  • Research and compare suppliers and their offerings. Select reliable, cost-efficient suppliers based on quality and product suitability. Negotiate and manage contracts with vendors.

  • Analyze financial reports, proposals, and pricing to determine reasonable costs. Maintain accurate records of transactions, purchase orders, payments, and receipts.

  • Optimize cost while maintaining product and service quality.

  • Adhere to applicable laws, policies, and regulations governing procurement.

  • Establish and nurture positive, long-term relationships with suppliers. Verify deliveries and maintain trustworthiness.

OUR IDEAL CANDIDATE:

  • Minimum 3 years of relevant experience.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or Accounting.

  • Proficiency in accounting principles and business practices.

  • Familiarity with Mapics and/or JD Edwards systems (preferred).

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

  • Strong organizational abilities and effective project prioritization.

  • Independent work capability.

  • Analytical mindset with accurate data entry skills (attention to detail is essential).

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
