POSITION DESCRIPTION

Role / Position Title - Senior Payroll and Benefits Specialist

Department/Function - Human Resources

Region / City (within Country) - Mahwah, NJ

FLSA (Exempt/Non-Exempt) - Exempt

Hours - 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. in office 3 days per week

POSITION SUMMARY

The Payroll & Benefits Senior Specialist will oversee the organizations payroll functions, ensuring pay is processed on time, accurately, and in compliance with government regulations for Glenmark North America.

OVERALL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Extensive knowledge of the payroll function including preparation, balancing, internal control, and payroll taxes.

  • Responding to employee questions about compensation, taxes, benefits, and deductions.

  • Entering new employee data into ADP

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to prepare and present financial reports.

  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Preparing payroll reports

  • Ability to handle confidential information.

  • Familiarity with state labor laws.

  • SME for ADP. Manages software carrier connections

  • Implements, maintains, and reviews payroll processing systems to ensure timely and accurate processing of payroll transactions including salaries, benefits, garnishments, taxes, and other deductions.

  • Ensures accurate and timely processing of payroll updates including new hires, terminations, and changes to pay rates.

  • Prepares and maintains accurate records and reports of payroll transactions.

  • Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local payroll, wage, and hour laws and best practices.

  • Facilitates audits by providing records and documentation to auditors.

  • Identifies and recommends updates to payroll processing software, systems, and procedures.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Open Enrollment activities as it related to systems and payroll.

  • Invoicing for benefits

  • 401k audit

  • Record keeping for benefits/invoices

  • Manages carrier connections with ADP and both 401k and Benefits systems

  • Compliance Reporting. 5500s, Annual 401k audit

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Education

  • Bachelor-s degree in related field of study (Business Administration, Human Resources, accounting), or industry experience more than 7 years in a payroll leading position

Experience

  • 7-10 years- experience in the Payroll department interfacing with Human Resources in a fast paced environment. Pharmaceutical experience a plus

Knowledge and Skills (Functional / Technical)

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software

  • Proficient with payroll software ADP Workforce now platform

  • Ability to manage complex projects is required

  • SHRM certification preferred

Physical demands and abilities

  • The incumbent typically works in an office environment and uses a computer, telephone and other office equipment as needed to perform duties.

  • The noise level in the work environment is typical of that of an office

  • Incumbent may encounter frequent interruptions throughout the work day.

  • The employee is regularly required to sit, talk, or hear; frequently required to use repetitive hand motion, handle or feel, and to stand, walk, reach, bend or lift up to 20 pounds
