Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or Equivalent
• Valid water treatment operator certification/license, as required by the regulatory body in the area (such as the Water and Wastewater Operator Certification Board)
• Previous experience working in a water treatment plant, or a similar field is preferred
• Knowledge of water treatment regulations and guidelines such as those set by the FPA
• Physical stamina and agility to perform routine maintenance tasks, climb ladders and lift heavy equipment.

Required Skills:

• Strong technical knowledge of water treatment processes, equipment and systems
• Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills o identify and resolve issues that may arise during the treatment process
• Attention to detail to accurately monitor and analyze water samples and equipment readings
• Ability to interpret and apply regulations and guidelines related to water treatment, safety and environmental protection
• Effective communication skills to coordinate and collaborate with team members regulatory agencies
• Proficient computer skills for data entry, analysis, and reporting.

Responsibilities:

• Operate and monitor water treatment equipment and processes to ensure the delivery of clean and safe drinking water to the community.
• Perform regular inspections and tests on water samples to monitor the quality of treated water, including pH levels, chlorine levels, turbidity, and other parameters
• Adjust treatment processes and equipment settings as necessary to maintain compliance with regulatory standards
• Maintain accurate records of water treatment plant operations, including daily logs, test results, chemical usage and maintenance activities
• Perform routine maintenance and repairs on water treatment equipment, such as pumps, valves, filters, and chemical feed systems
• Ability to work independently and make quick decisions in emergency situations.
• Analyze data and trends to identify issues or potential improvements in the water treatment process and implement necessary corrective actions
• Ensure compliance with all applicable regulations and guidelines, such as those set by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and any local or state agencies
• Respond to emergencies or equipment malfunctions in a timely manner to minimize disruption to the water treatment process and prevent any impact on public health
• Collaborate with other operators and maintenance staff to coordinate plant operations and maintenance activities
• Stay updated on the latest advancements in water treatment technology and regulations to ensure continuous improvement in plan operations
