Data Engineer, Specialist (The Vanguard Group, Inc. / Malvern, PA) -- Write ETL (Extract / Transform / Load) processes, design database systems, and develop tools for real-time and offline analytic processing; troubleshoot software and processes for data consistency and integrity; integrate complex and large-scale data from a variety of sources for business partners to generate insight and make decisions; translate business specifications into design specifications and code; responsible for writing complex programs, ad hoc queries, and reports; ensure that all code is well structured, includes sufficient documentation, and is easy to maintain and reuse; lead all phases of solution development; explain technical considerations at related meetings, including those with internal clients and less experienced team members; educate and develop junior data engineers on the team while applying quality control to their work; develop data engineering standards and contribute expertise to other data expert teams across company; test and implement new software releases through regression testing; identify issues and engage with vendors to resolve and elevate software into production. Requires Bachelor's in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electronic(s) Engineering, Electrical and Electronic(s) Engineering, or closely related IT field and five years of experience in job offered or in IT position(s) including ETL Developer and/or Data Engineering Specialist and/or Senior Systems Engineer. Background in education, training or experience must include Scala, Python, Apache Spark, Snowflake, AWS EC2, S3, Lambda, Elastic Map Reduce, Kinesis, Glue, SQS, and SNS. Company operates on hybrid model with three days in office and work-from-home available two days.
