As a Shift Equipment Technician at Micron Technology, Inc. located in Manassas, Virginia, will be responsible for monitoring, sustaining, and improving the equipment and/or processes in their assigned area while working in partnership with production team members and area engineers. Will supervise tool performance, schedule and perform preventative maintenance on assigned tool sets, and use mechanical, electronic and PC/software skills to tackle and repair equipment issues. You will also be required to assist with equipment installs; tests; build and modify equipment procedures; and increase tool uptime through detailed problem solving and resolve, quality workmanship, thoroughly document all maintenance performed in established check sheets and tracking programs, and routine review of maintenance check sheets and procedures. You will monitor, analyze and address SPC issues for area processes daily and respond to SPC out of control issues. You will be required to keep the Lead Tech and/or Lead Engineer updated on tool and area issues.

Successful candidates for this position will have:

  • Basic to intermediate knowledge of AC/DC circuits, fundamentals of electricity, and basic electronics.

  • Basic understanding of mathematical concepts and problem solving at least into an algebraic level.

  • Basic PC skills including MS Office Word, Excel and Power Point.

  • Shown ability to troubleshoot basic problems and address root causes.

  • The ability to properly use common hand tools.

  • Solid time management and prioritization skills.

  • Consistent track record in multi-tasking sophisticated projects.

  • Basic data extraction, analysis, and reporting skills.

  • Proven ability to work effectively with minimal direction.

  • The ability to be flexible with job responsibilities and take the initiative to assume added responsibilities.

  • Successfully demonstrated partnership skills with a strong focus on effective team dynamics.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Basic understanding of semiconductor equipment and processes.

  • Flexibility to work any shift and rotate shifts as needed.

  • Basic understanding of physics concepts and principles. (Preferred)

  • Basic knowledge of test and calibration equipment (O-scopes, DMMs, etc). (Preferred)

  • Basic to intermediate knowledge of the specific area equipment and processes. (Preferred)

  • Basic understanding of SPC principles and accurate application. (Preferred)

  • Additional preferences to be defined by the area leadership. (Preferred)

  • Ability to lift 25-50 pounds regularly

  • Be able to move safely over uneven terrain or in confined spaces

  • The ability to wear personal protective gear including a respirator breathing apparatus

  • The ability to perform tasks while stooping, crouching, kneeling, or crawling ability to climb ladders and work with arms raised above head level

  • Have ability to see and respond to potentially dangerous situations

  • Report to site as scheduled

  • Be able to spend a large portion of time on shift walking or standing

  • The ability to work with various gases and chemicals used for production processes and maintenance

  • Be able to wear Personal Protective Equipment including Cleanroom garments, face covering, and safety glasses. Additional protective equipment may be defined per job role

Education:

Associate or Bachelor degree in an electronics related field is preferred but not required or equivalent work/military experience.
