How you’ll contribute
The Senior Scientist, Cell Production & Analytical Development (OMG) will design and lead efforts in developing and implementing robust analytical methods for the assessment of somatic cells and differentiation of iPS-derived cells for development of autologous 3D printed tissue engineered organs. The incumbent and team will also be tasked with providing rapid turn-around testing results to further process development efforts in achieving high quality and highly suitable cellular products for long-term cellularized 3D scaffolds and development of autologous 3D printed tissue engineered organs.
Design and lead complex projects including the development, execution and troubleshooting of various analytical techniques relevant to the assessment of iPS-derived cells and their subsequent performance on cellularized 3D scaffolds
Assist in execution of short- and mid- term planning of analytical activities to support department and site goals
Design and lead the development and implementation of analytic methods to characterize quality and suitability of iPS-derived cells for generation of 3D printed organs
Design and execute laboratory experiments that lead to the successful achievement of program objectives
Foster and leverage synergistic interactions with other sub-groups in Organ Manufacturing (e.g., Bioink, Scaffold Production, Cellularization), as needed
Participate in selection, purchase, and implementation of laboratory equipment
Develop, write and review laboratory methods, protocols, development reports.
Lead effective tech transfer activities from outside collaborators to internal laboratory
Design the evaluation of new technologies for future analytical development and suitability of assays in overall testing schema.
Interact with R&D and QC teams to ensure process and methods for assessment of iPS-derived cells are ready and phase-appropriate
Author and contribute to scientific publications and present data at scientific conferences
Author and contribute to IP and regulatory filings
Perform all other duties as assigned
For this role you will need
Minimum Requirements for Scientist:
Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in biomedical engineering, cell biology, molecular biology, or other related discipline
2+ years of relevant experience that can include experience in stem cell differentiation or reprogramming or bioreactor cell production scale up or regenerative medicine or tissue engineering
Technical expertise in iPS-reprogramming and/or differentiation methods
Ability to initiate and manage day-to-day-tasks effectively, including multi-tasking, flexibility, adaptability, and high quality rapid turn-around of data
Faculty with appropriate word processing, spreadsheet, presentation and related standard software; experience with laboratory instrumentation and data software
Minimum Requirements for Senior Scientist:
Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in biomedical engineering, cell biology, molecular biology, or other related discipline
5+ years of relevant experience that can include experience in stem cell differentiation or molecular biology or analytical development or regenerative medicine or tissue engineering
Technical expertise in molecular techniques applicable to iPS-reprogramming and/or differentiation methods,
Ability to initiate and manage day-to-day-tasks effectively, including multi-tasking, flexibility, adaptability, and high quality rapid turn-around of data
Knowledge in transfer of Analytical Development methods to QC, or tech transfer experience
Faculty with appropriate word processing, spreadsheet, presentation and related standard software; Experience with laboratory instrumentation and data software
Ability to mentor and motivate team members
Preferred Qualifications for Scientist:
Technical expertise in iPS-derived cell types, including knowledge of cell biology stress cues
Ability to mentor and motivate team members
Knowledge in transfer of Analytical Development methods to QC
