Amentum Inspector - Howitzer 2.1 in Mannheim, Germany

Purpose: Verifies and validates workmanship being performed and completed, ensuring statutory and regulatory requirements are met. Performs initial, in-progress and final inspections on documentation and weapons systems to verify competence of maintenance & repairs being performed at field and sustainment maintenance levels, relational to personnel engaged with the field and sustainment level maintenance activities for repair efforts, Breech Maintenance, Borescopes, Recoil Exercise of field artillery Paladin M109. The Inspector – Howitzer will inspect all maintenance and repair efforts of the Paladin M109-series howitzer, M992 Field Artillery Ammunition Carrier (FAAC) and the M88A2 Medium Track Recovery Vehicle for the Army Prepositioned Stocks – 2 (APS-2) contracts.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to fulfill each essential duty satisfactorily.

  • Oversees and or conducts inspections on different classifications of tracked vehicles/equipment at the unit level.

  • Oversees and or conducts initial inspections upon delivery of equipment and records data information for the processing of maintenance work orders troubleshoots identified faults and in-process inspections as required during the repair phase. Conducts a final inspection upon completion of maintenance repairs to ensure quality product outputs are met.

  • Prepares records of inspection/tests and make them available to the QA/QC Department.

  • Verifies procedures being used are adequate for the effective control of quality, rejects defective workmanship and materials, verifies and certifies the test results on supporting documents.

  • Provides guidance and technical assistance to shop maintenance personnel on inspection principles of workmanship, procedures to be employed, and quality of work expected.

  • Ensures compliance with government and corporate regulations, company SOPs, directives, and technical manuals to establish and maintain a quality management program.

  • Maintains cross talk with QA and LAR representatives.

  • Coordinates with Shop Supervisor when technical problems arise, and in-depth mechanical knowledge is required.

  • Cross trains when required to ensure maximum flexibility and possession of technical skills in the development and maintenance of quality programs.

  • Instills a safety-first mentality within respective work areas and a culture that achieves low accident rates and minimal lost-time injuries.

  • Adhere to ISO Policies, Procedures, and Work Instructions in support of the Amentum Quality Management System.

  • Performs troubleshooting, maintenance and repairs on various pieces of tracked vehicles/equipment, both tactical and non-tactical

  • Instills a safety-first mentality within respective work areas and a culture that achieves low accident rates and minimal lost-time injuries.

  • Maintain a daily timesheet and daily manning report and ensuring times are accurate.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualification & Experience Requirements: The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or abilities required.

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.

  • Prior military experience in US Army as MOS 91X, 91G, 91H or, 5 years of documented related work experience with Original Equipment Manufacture (OEM).

  • 1 plus years’ additional experience as a Howitzer/Track inspector is preferred.

  • Must demonstrate a thorough knowledge of general quality inspection procedures, maintenance forms, records, reporting system, and management thereof.

  • Must have the ability to analyze and interpret U.S. Army Technical Manuals with relation to vehicle maintenance and repair (include preferred knowledge of the PWS, AR 750-1, DA PAM 750-8, AR 385-10, TB 43-0142, COSIS TM 38-470 Identifying, locating and ordering parts from the relevant TM.

  • Must be capable of reading, interpreting and using complex blueprints, schematic diagrams, and data tables.

  • Must be able to perform complete technical inspection of contract units and be able to determine that completed repairs comply with standards described in applicable publications.

  • Must be able to instruct and demonstrate correct maintenance techniques and procedures.

  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and be able to operate a government general-purpose vehicle.

  • Must be able to meet and maintain all base access security requirements.

  • Must be able to meet and maintain all Logistics Information System (LIS) access requirements (Common Access Card).

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain facility credentials/authorization. Note: US Citizenship is required for facility credentials/authorization at this work location.

  • Must have or be able to obtain a US Passport

Specialized knowledge and skills:

  • Experienced in the using the Global Combat Support System – Army (GCSS-A).

  • Experienced in the using the U.S. Army Tank-automotive and Armaments Command (TACOM) Unique Logistics Support Applications (TULSA) and Logistics Information Warehouse (LIW).

  • Must be able to speak, read, write, and understand English.

Additional Requirements:

1) LICENSE AND CERTIFICATIONS:

  • Valid driver’s license is required.

2) PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Stooping, sitting, kneeling, standing, walking, lifting up to 50 pounds by themselves-51+ with the assistance of another person, touching dexterity (hand and finger), carrying, clear seeing-general, close vision, color perception, clear speech, driving vehicle, moving objects.

  • Ability to perform job duties efficiently and effectively up to a 48-hour work week.

  • Must be able to endure long hours (overtime as required).

3) WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to walk; sit; use hands to handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts; high, precarious places; and outside weather conditions. The employee may be exposed to situations where risk of electrical shock and vibration exist. The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and risk of radiation. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.

  • May be required to deploy on missions on short notice at the direction of the PMO.
