The Challenge

We're looking for a Marine Electronics Technician to join our Manns Harbor Shipyard team.

In this role, you will:

  • Repair and maintain standard and custom electronics devices, electronics subsystems, and smaller electronics systems.
  • Calibrate, perform preventive maintenance, troubleshoot, and repair electronics devices or systems made up of several interconnected devices where this interconnection complicates troubleshooting and repair procedures. Note that schematic diagrams, wiring diagrams, and repair manuals may exist in many instances but may be fragmented.
  • Modify existing circuitry to improve performance or affect output/lay out circuitry to provide for special functions such as interfacing of individual devices into systems. Reliance on existing types of circuits and circuit designs is common.
  • Be evaluated through analysis of reliability of electronic repair and workability of designs and circuit modifications.
  • Determine circuit configuration and function of complex electronics systems in the absence of documentation.
  • Evaluate and install electronic systems.
  • Design, construct, and evaluate devices.
  • Modify standard and nonstandard electronic devices to improve performance or to customize them for special use.
  • Operate standard and specialized test equipment.
  • Maintain electronic replacement parts inventory.
  • Recommend additional shop equipment or replacement equipment.
  • Compile technical literature library.
  • Maintain your electronics knowledge.

What You Bring

  • Working knowledge of electronic principle and physics fundamentals related to electronics.
  • Working knowledge of math principles relating to electronic circuit analysis.
  • Working knowledge of the uses of standard and specialized electronic testing equipment.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze and modify standard circuitry to improve its performance or perform special effects.

Education and Experience

  • Associate's degree in Electronics, and
  • 1+ year experience in the repair and maintenance of specialized electronic devices, preferably including some responsibility for circuit modification; or
  • An equivalent combination of training and experience.
