Department Manufacturing Production Reports To Production Supervisor/Manager Job Summary The Powder Coating Technician is responsible for applying powder coatings to parts and products according to company standards and customer specifications. This role involves preparing surfaces, operating coating equipment, and ensuring that finished products meet quality requirements. Key Responsibilities Surface Preparation Clean, sandblast, or otherwise prepare surfaces to ensure proper adhesion of the powder coating. Mask and tape off areas as required to protect them from the coating process. Coating Application Operate powder coating guns and equipment to apply coatings uniformly and to specified thickness. Adjust and control equipment settings to achieve desired finish and coverage. Monitor coating process and make adjustments as needed to maintain quality. Quality Control Inspect coated items for defects and ensure they meet quality standards. Perform touch-ups and repairs on coated items as necessary. Record and report any non-conformities or production issues to supervisors. Equipment Maintenance Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of powder coating equipment. Report any equipment malfunctions or need for repairs. Safety and Compliance Adhere to all safety guidelines and regulations, including the use of personal protective equipment PPE. Maintain a clean and organized work area to ensure a safe working environment. Follow company policies and procedures, including environmental and health standards. Documentation and Reporting Maintain accurate records of coatings applied, materials used, and process parameters. Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors regarding production status and any issues that arise. Qualifications Education Preferred High school diploma or equivalent. Technical training in powder coating or a related field is a plus. Experience Previous experience in a powder coating or painting environment preferred. Skills Knowledge of powder coating processes and equipment. Strong attention to detail and quality control. Ability to read and interpret work orders, specifications, and technical drawings. Basic mechanical skills and ability to perform equipment maintenance. Good communication skills and ability to work as part of a team. Pay ranges based on experience. Physical Requirements: Ability to lift and move objects up to 50 pounds. Prolonged standing, walking, and manual dexterity required. Exposure to powder coating materials and equipment noise. Work Environment Work is performed in a manufacturing environment with exposure to chemicals, heat, and noise. Must adhere to safety standards and wear protective equipment as required.
