Job Description

Southwest Minnesota State University's Undergraduate Social Work program is hiring full-time probationary position that will be responsible to teach four courses each semester. This position will teach on-campus and online courses for the program.

It will be expected that the person in this position teach the components of the generalist social work curriculum at SMSU. The teaching load for this position will be twelve credits each semester. The position will teach any of the social work courses currently offered with a potential to add an elective course if time and numbers in the program allow. The position will also be able teach an online section of LEP 101 (first year seminar course) if needed and course load llowed.

The position is responsible for both academic and professional advising as outlined by the social work program in accreditation documentation for the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE).

The candidate for this position would need to hold PhD in a human service-related field or a Doctorate in Social Work, a Master's Degree in Social Work (as required by CSWE) from an accredited school of social work, have two-years of post MSW practice, and an understanding of online education. Applicants will need to have a social work license or be eligible to obtain one when they begin. The SMSU Social Work Program strongly desires to have a diverse program both students and faculty so applicants from traditionally under-represented communities are strongly encouraged to apply. Minimum Qualifications

  • Terminal degree in human services profession (Ph.D., DSW, or other terminal degree)

  • Master's Degree in Social Work from a CSWE accredited university

  • Two years of post MSW work experience·

  • Demonstrated commitment or proven strategies for fostering a diverse and inclusive environment

  • Demonstrated ability or proven strategies to teach and work with persons from diverse backgrounds

  • Documented teaching experience at the college level

  • Experience with online course delivery and online delivery technologies

  • Demonstrated commitment to the NASW Code of Ethics

  • Be licensed as a social worker or be able to obtain license

  • Commitment to helping grow the social work program and profession
