Position Overview:

The Bilingual HR Specialist at Landscaping by J.Michael, a respected leader in the Massachusetts landscaping sector for over 30 years, will focus on enhancing recruitment and employee relations for our Spanish-speaking workforce. This vital role requires fluency in both English and Spanish and involves leading targeted recruitment efforts, facilitating effective communication across diverse groups, and managing sensitive employee relations issues. Hours: Part Time (20 Hours)

Compensation Range: $20-35 per hour depending on skill and experience level

Qualifications:

 

  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in human resources, specifically in roles focused on recruitment and employee relations.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field; relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.

  • Fully bilingual in English and Spanish, with excellent verbal and written communication skills in both languages.

  • Familiarity with employment laws and regulations applicable in the jurisdiction of employment.

  • Certified in Human Resources (e.g., SHRM-CP, PHR) preferred but not required.

  • Valid state driver’s license, if travel between company sites or to recruitment events is required.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and familiar with HRIS systems.

    Core Responsibilities:

     

  • Support the HR department by managing various HR tasks, with a specific focus on recruitment and employee relations within the Spanish-speaking workforce.

  • Oversee the recruitment process, from posting bilingual job ads to screening resumes and conducting interviews, ensuring a smooth and efficient hiring process.

  • Conduct new hire orientations and manage the onboarding process, providing bilingual support to ensure clear understanding and integration into the company culture.

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date employee records, ensuring all documentation complies with legal and organizational requirements.

  • Serve as a point of contact for employees, offering bilingual support and guidance regarding HR policies and procedures.

  • Participate in and contribute to HR projects and initiatives, aimed at improving HR functions and enhancing employee satisfaction.

  • Respond promptly to HR-related inquiries or requests, providing assistance and redirecting or distributing correspondence as appropriate.

  • Collaborate with management to identify and address employment needs, ensuring effective staffing and operational efficiency.

  • Provide regular feedback opportunities to employees and management, facilitating open communication and continuous improvement.

    Knowledge & Skills Required:

     

  • Proficiency in both English and Spanish, able to conduct business and HR functions fluently in both languages.

  • Strong understanding of HR practices and principles, including recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, and compliance with local, state, and federal employment laws.

  • Effective communication skills, capable of writing concise reports and clearly conveying information to staff at all levels.

  • Ability to rapidly absorb and apply new information, demonstrating a quick learning capability.

  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage deadlines.

  • High level of discretion and judgment in handling confidential and sensitive information.

  • Proven ability to develop and maintain professional relationships, providing excellent customer service to internal and external stakeholders.

  • Experience in problem-solving and conflict resolution, maintaining professionalism and calm under pressure.
