Job Description:

JOB SUMMARY

The EKG Technician – Hospital is responsible for obtaining accurate and reliable EKGS and arrhythmia testing, interpretation and responding immediately to any unit in the hospital system. This individual is required to recognize acute diagnosis and follow non emergent and emergent protocols for each unit. EKG Technician- Hospital is required to be trained and participate in codes and Rescue Ones. This individual is responsible for applying and teaching patients who are discharged with ambulatory monitoring devices.

WORK SHIFT : This position will work variable shifts, Holiday and weekend rotation.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION

For positions requiring education beyond a high school diploma or equivalent, educational qualifications must be from an institution whose accreditation is recognized by the Council for Higher Education and Accreditation.

Minimum Required: High school diploma or equivalent. EKG Class provided by Marshfield Clinic Health System (MCHS) with the expectation of scoring 80% or better on the basic EKG interpretation test with 80% or better on final within one year of hire.

Preferred/Optional: Enrolled in one of the following courses: Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) or First Responder.

EXPERIENCE

Minimum Required: One years’ experience in related field. EKG class required after training with a Final test of 80% of better.

CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES

The following licensure(s), certification(s), registration(s), etc., are required for this position. Licenses with restrictions are subject to review to determine if restrictions are substantially related to the position.

Minimum Required: Basic Life Support (BLS) Awarded by the American Heart Association.

Preferred/Optional: EKG technician certification awarded by the American Heart Association (AHA), or Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI).
