Position Purpose:
Performs any/all duties associated with the scheduling/registration processes within Imaging Services Department as well as Forest Park Imaging.
What You Will Do:
Schedules all radiographic/interventional imaging procedures using Cerner scheduling system. Procures adequate, confidential medical histories in accordance with MMC-NI policies/procedures, HIPAA, Local Medical Review Policy (LMRP) during scheduling process.
Assures compliance regarding payable diagnoses for exams and documents preauthorization information to assure maximum reimbursement and provide accurate patient care (BC/BS, PCA, UHC, etc.).
Serve as a liaison between scheduling and the areas within Imaging Services/FPI. Makes updates as needed to maintain scheduler resources, and Cerner scheduling system books.
Assists patient with any issues they may have regarding appointments, exam content, preps, procedures.
Hours:
Monday-Friday rotating daytime shifts (8 hrs.). Shifts start as early as 6 am and end as late as 5 pm. No holiday or weekends. Full Time Hours shared between Radiology Scheduling and Radiology Registration.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education:
High School diploma/GED required
Medical Secretary/Assistant degree/diploma preferred
Experience:
At least one year of employment in a medical office setting preferred
Computer/PC experience required
Special Skills and Competencies:
Must demonstrate good comprehension of medical terminology.
Must be able to type at least 45 WPM.
Ability to interact with patients & their relatives, visitors, and coworkers using tact/diplomacy/compassion/respect is a necessary attribute.
Must be flexible in work schedule for weekend coverage.
May be required to alternate shifts.
Must demonstrate the Service Excellence Standards of Behavior.
