Researches, designs, develop and documents mechanical components, systems and peripheral equipment for machine tools. Primary focus is machine tool option development. ESSENTIAL DUTIES, RESPONSIBILITIES and AUTHORITIES include the following. Others may be assigned. * Develop/Design option content for Makino machine tool product line with the following requirements: * Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T) * Hydraulic control systems * Pneumatic control systems * Piping/tubing layouts * Research existing designs for application in new design projects * Create concept designs for design reviews * Create detailed and assembly drawings for the designs * Participate in design reviews * Create bills of materials for the designs * Create installation/maintenance/troubleshooting instructions and assist with build/installation problems * Interface with third parties for outsourced builds * Interface with customers to define requirements for the development of custom options * Interface with customers in the resolution of issues of option designs * Some overnight travel required LEADERSHIP RESPONSIBILITIES Provides mechanical engineering technology leadership in a multi-discipline engineering team environment, QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. * Good working knowledge of Mechanical Engineering principles as applied to machine design * Good working knowledge of 3D modeling applications, specifically SolidWorks * Good CAD skills concentrating on AutoCad * Working knowledge of metal cutting machine tools * Able to utilize MS Office products such as Word, Excel, etc. * Effective verbal and written communications skills. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE A Bachelors of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering or an Associates Degree in Engineering Technology with equivalent work experience is required.
