Summary

Looking for a 2nd shift Quality Control Technician to perform daily line side inspections, conduct investigation of line quality problems, and provide feedback to Q.C. Supervisor and Q.C. Manager about the daily line quality condition for assigned area.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect line side production parts daily. Working at each assembly/manufacturing line, inspect current production parts to audit production and inspection results from Production department associates. Give immediate feedback to line associates and Production Supervisor of differences in results from associates’ results. Report results of inspections to QC supervisor.

  • Learn, understand, and use of basic measuring tools (Calipers, Micrometers, Height gauges, pin gauges, scales) with limited support.

  • Learn, understand, and use all of the basic equipment in the Q.C. Department with assistance of supervisor or QC Technician(e.g., Roundness Tester, Profile Tester, Strength Testing Machine, Roughness and Universal Testing Machine.) Use lab equipment as necessary to perform required tests with assistance.

  • Learn, understand, and use all of the specific equipment with support on each assembly/manufacturing line related to assigned product group (e.g., roughness testers, gear-checking equipment, balancing equipment, performance testers, high voltage testers, pressure and height measuring devices, etc.).

  • Support updates of daily inspection methods and associated paperwork such as work instructions and check sheets to support Q.C. functions.

  • Read, understand and interpret assembly and part drawings along with purchasing specifications to ensure that all critical points of quality control are ensured by inspection methods with support of supervisor.

  • Support improvements to current line testing methods to inspect or test for control points as requested by Production and/or Engineering groups.

  • Attend training as required to enhance and maintain knowledge of Q.C. (e.g., specific test equipment training, problem solving methods, audit methods, Excel, Access, etc.).

  • Participate in IATF-16949 registration and surveillance audits with support of supervisor or other QC Technicians.

  • Support and assist the Q.C. Tech’s as needed.

  • Further the goals and positive, professional image of the Quality Control Department by understanding and supporting departmental and company goals, working with Production and Engineering personnel, vendors, and customers in a professional manner.

    Quality and Environmental Systems

  • Understand MEAA’s environmental policy, and how this position can impact the policy and the environment.

  • Know the consequences that deviating from documented procedures/practice can have on the environment.

  • The associate has the responsibility and authority to immediately inform supervision or management if another associate or department deviates from proper environmental practice.

  • Know MEAA’s Quality Policy. Be able to fully discuss how this position supports the quality objectives.

  • The associate has the ability to suspend production when product quality has become questionable.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED, plus a minimum of 1 years' experience in a manufacturing environment working in quality control, or equivalent.

  • Basic knowledge of quality control, engineering, metrology, and production methods is helpful.

  • Verbal, written, and cross-cultural communication skills.

  • Computer literate, emphasizing use of MSOffice products, especially Excel and Access.

  • Basic understanding of technical drawings and documents is helpful.

  • Ability to travel and work overtime with short notice. Ability to work during designated shutdown periods.
