Truck Hero Inc Senior Design Engineer in Massillon, Ohio

Description POSITION SUMMARY The Senior Design Engineer will primarily be responsible for product design engineering of aftermarket pick-up truck bed covers (a.k.a. Tonneau Covers)/Caps and related components for RealTruck's initiatives. Projects and work will include conceptual development all the way through start of production, as well as vehicle application engineering. Position responsibilities: Design Class A parts using SolidWorks surface modeling. Design mechanical components and assemblies using SolidWorks solid modeling. Participate in activities to verify the accuracy of designs, while documenting each process. Perform redesigns and design changes on existing products to improve manufacturability, reduce warranty, or reduce costs. Create and review technical drawings, plans, and specifications within file management software. Create, update, and ensure accuracy of BOMs within ERP software. Initiate and validate ECOs as they relate to product improvements and/or modifications. Define, oversee, and help perform testing and auditing of new products and product modifications. Provide support to product manufacturing engineering and manufacturing during production release of a new product. Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed. QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS Education and Experience * Minimum 4-year Bachelor of Science Engineering degree is required. * Minimum 6+ years of hands-on, professional automotive product engineering experience working in OEM or Tier 1 body/exterior/sealing/mechanisms or equivalent is required. Skills and Abilities * Possess strong problem-solving skills. * Skilled in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. * Skilled in SolidWorks or other CAD software. * Ability to write, speak, and comprehend English. * Excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills. * Strong problem solving and critical thinking skills with a focus on root cause analysis. Travel * Occasional travel is required, especially between local ARE facilities.
