The primary purpose of this position is to assist the installation Fitness Assessment Cell to provide comprehensive health & fitness evaluations to the local active duty population assigned to base level installations with goals of centralizing & standardizing fitness testing requirements & fitness improvement programs as they relate to the U.S. Air Force Fitness Program. Responsibilities Administers bi-annual fitness assessments for military personnel Ensures fitness assessment equipment is procured, maintained, and replaced as needed Uses word processing equipment to generate a variety of products Initiates administrative procedures for members identified as not meeting fitness standards Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications In order to qualify, you must meet the general and specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Technical and Medical Support Positions, GS-0189 series. GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have six months of general experience in any type of work which demonstrates your ability to perform the work of the position. AND SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least six (6) months specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-03, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience include assisting with and performing basic physical assessment measurements; inspecting fitness equipment for serviceability; assisting in the organization and administration of recreation activities, such as preparing activities calendars, maintaining attendance records, and providing information concerning schedules and activities; and utilizing a substantial range of office automation support equipment for grammar, spelling, capitalization, punctuation and commonly used specialized terminology to prepare material correctly. OR EDUCATION: Successful completion of 2 years of study that included at least 12 semester hours in courses related to recreation (e.g., basic psychology, group dynamics, physical education, arts and crafts, etc.). OR COMBINATION OF EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: 1. Knowledge of exercise physiology and exercise techniques to conduct physical fitness evaluations in accordance with Air Force guidance. 2. Knowledge of various office automation software programs, tools, and techniques to support office operations and produce a variety of documents, such as letters, reports, spreadsheets, databases, and graphs. 3. Knowledge of Air Force fitness assessment standards, protocols, and procedures. 4. Knowledge of grammar, spelling, capitalization, punctuation and commonly used specialized terminology to prepare material correctly. 5. Skill in administering sub maximal cardiovascular endurance tests. PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
