Collins Aerospace is seeking a Program Development Chief Engineer to support Modular Mission Computer (MMC) programs in the Trusted Mission Processing (TMP) organization. The MMC Development Chief Engineer provides technical leadership, ensures engineering and technical execution, and guides growth for the Modular Mission Computer and its variants. This position reports to the TMP Product Area Chief Engineer (PACE).

The MMC Development Chief Engineer leads engagements with the Engineering disciplines to identify and provide engineering resources (people, processes, facilities & tools) to execute engineering scope for all MMC development efforts. The Chief Engineer ensures the technical integrity of their programs’ technical baselines, and holds overall responsibility for cost, schedule, and technical execution of the engineering portions of each program. The Chief Engineer collaborates with the PACE to ensure MMC development efforts are aligned to TMP’s product and technology strategy.

This role interfaces directly with its customer counterparts, leading technical engagements with government and prime contractor customers. This includes working with customers to ensure the success of ongoing programs, and to understand customer needs to shape and capture future work.

The Chief Engineer position is located in McKinney, TX. An active Secret Security Clearance is required prior to the first day. Selected candidate must have the ability to obtain SAP Clearance.

Qualifications/ Experience Needed:

  • Industry experience developing DoD mission computing systems and airborne or avionics systems.

  • Minimum 5 years of experience managing integrated and concurrent engineering development efforts (i.e. systems, software, and hardware).

  • Experience with business development and capture management.

  • Must have a broad engineering background that includes technical leadership of engineers and scientists.

  • Experience working with various governmental agencies, such as those in DoD and the Intelligence Community.

  • Experience in program management activities, including working knowledge of Earned Value Management (EVM).

  • Excellent, professional oral and written communication skills.

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) unless prohibited by local laws/regulations and minimum 10 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 7 years of experience or in absence of a degree, 14 years of relevant experience.

  • Active and transferable U.S. government issued Secret security clearance is required prior to start date. Must have the ability to obtain SAP clearance.

  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree in Engineering, Math, or Science.

  • IPT leadership or line engineering management experience.

  • Industry experience applying COTS technology to DoD embedded systems.

The salary range for this role is 118,000 USD - 246,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company’s performance.
