SRS Distribution Inc. Desktop Administrator in McKinney, Texas

We are currently seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Desktop Administrator to join our team. As a Desktop Administrator, you will play a pivotal role in steering the strategic direction of desktop support operations, ensuring the seamless functionality and advancement of desktop systems within our organization. Leveraging your extensive experience, you will provide expert-level leadership in troubleshooting, system configuration, and project management. Beyond desktop support, you will act as a key influencer in the implementation of advanced collaboration technologies, audio-visual systems, and automation initiatives. Your responsibilities extend to overseeing budgets, contributing to strategic planning, and serving as the Subject Matter Expert for all technologies and processes.Key Responsibilities:• Desktop Support:o Provide operational direction in resolving complex desktop-related issues and mentor junior team members.o Oversee the installation, configuration, and upgrade of desktop software and hardware components.o Own the end-to-end processes of fulfilment and onboarding for Acquisitions, Greenfields, and the New Hire Experience.• Advanced Troubleshooting and Resolution:o Lead efforts to identify and address trends or recurring technical issues.o Provide expert-level troubleshooting for complex desktop hardware and software issues.• Advanced System Configuration:o Manage the deployment and imaging of advanced computer systems.o Ensure seamless compatibility and integration of advanced desktop systems with network infrastructure.o Execute standards for the deployment of hardware and software.• Strategic Communication and Collaboration:o Drive strategic communication with clients, stakeholders, vendors, and team members to ensure project awareness and progression.o Facilitate high-level meetings with customers to discuss project details and requirements.• Project Management and Planning Oversight:o Play a key role in developing comprehensive plans for departmental operations, integrating industry trends.o Lead the definition of project scope and requirements, identifying advanced improvement opportunities.o Contribute significantly to developing engineering proposals, ensuring accuracy and alignment with strategic goals.• Advanced Data Analysis and Automation Leadership:o Champion and lead advanced data analysis and automation initiatives to enhance efficiency and accuracy.o Implement and guide the development of advanced macros, scripts, generative AI, and workflows for data processing and reporting.• Budget Oversight and Documentation:o Take a leadership role in preparing and reviewing the budget, aligning it with the company’s strategic goals.o Lead the creation and maintenance of documentation for advanced technical support policies, procedures, and practices.• Team Management and Training:o Lead and participate in after-hours on-call rotation, serving as a key escalation point.o Provide advanced training and guidance to teammates.• Security and Compliance Oversight:o Lead advanced data protection and endpoint security programs.o Ensure functionality of data backup platforms and lead remediation efforts for vulnerabilities.• Cross-functional Collaboration Oversight:o Demonstrate advanced leadership in working independently and within cross-functional collaborative settings.o Take a proactive leadership role in leading team projects and travel as needed.• Collaboration Technologies and AV Expertise:o Spearhead the management of technologies operating on enterprise hardware and software platforms throughout the company.o Serve as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for all tools, supported technologies and processes, providing a mentoring role and contributing to a robust knowledge base.o Lead technical discussions required to support Enterprise Infrastructure Collaboration Tool design needs.o Plan the design, installation, and implementation of various collaboration tools and provide training and mentoring to team members and customers.o Drive enhancement and continuous improvement of collaboration services and conduct proofs-of-concept to test new technologies.o Provide support for audio-visual, multi-media technology, and video conferencing environments.• Strategic Planning and Decision-Making:o Define project scope and requirements by conducting research on existing technology and protocols to identify opportunities for improvement.o Prepare and review annual budget recommendations, monitoring, and reporting on actual vs. budgeted performance to ensure adherence to approved budgetary spend.o Review financial models, forecasts, and scenarios to support decision-making and resource allocation.o Provide leadership with recommendations that designate specific direction for the architecture in terms of design, standards, implementation, operations, and maintenance.• Continuous Learning and Technological Advancement:o Research and track new technologies, developing product roadmaps that include plans to enhance functionality, replace end-of-life infrastructure, and increase operational efficiencies and streamline costs.o Participate in meetings with customers to discuss project details and requirements.o Review engineering proposals and provide feedback to ensure accuracy.o Identify trends or recurring technical issues and propose solutions to address root cause.• Adherence to Schedule:o Adhere meticulously to the established schedule of shifts, tasks, and work hours.• Independent and Collaborative Work:o Possess and exhibit the ability to work independently and in cross-functional collaborative settings.• Other Duties:o Play a crucial role in other job-related duties as assigned.Education:Bachelor’s degree in information technology, Computer Science, or a related field. Alternatively, candidates with a High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED) with five years related design, configuration, implementation, management of collaboration technologies and vendor contract management will also be considered.Experience:• 5+ years of progressive experience in desktop support and administration.• Advanced proficiency in operating systems, including Windows and MacOS.• Proven experience in managing and troubleshooting complex desktop environments.• Demonstrated leadership skills and the ability to mentor junior team members.• In-depth knowledge of desktop virtualization technologies, remote support tools, and Active Directory.• Experience in implementing desktop-related policies and procedures.• Strong project management skills with a track record of successful project completion.Recommended Skills:• Mentoring: Exhibit a strong ability to mentor a team of desktop support professionals.• Advanced Troubleshooting: Demonstrate expertise in resolving complex desktop issues and providing technical guidance.• Project Management: Possess strong project management skills to oversee desktop-related projects from initiation to completion, to include vendor, partner, and contract management.• Policy Development: Contribute to the development and implementation of desktop-related policies and procedures.• Strategic Thinking: Have a strategic mindset to contribute to the organization's overall desktop technology strategy.• Collaboration and Communication: Effectively collaborate with other IT teams, departments, and communicate with stakeholders at various levels.• Continuous Learning: Stay abreast of emerging technologies and industry trends to provide innovative solutions.• Audio-Visual Expertise: Advanced understanding of audio-visual technologies and their seamless integration with desktop systems.• Collaboration Tools Mastery: Proficiency in collaboration software and tools to enhance teamwork and productivity.Certificates and Licenses:• Valid driver's license required• Current Microsoft/CompTIA certifications preferred• Current ITIL certification preferredAble to work in our environment:• Indoor office, indoor warehouse, and outdoor warehouse (yard) working environment• Occasional long periods of sitting and standing• Long periods of computer phone and technology utilization• Must be able to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 25 pounds• Position requires regular interaction with employees at all levels of the company• Travel requirement up to 25%If you are an experienced and knowledgeable Desktop Administrator seeking an opportunity to provide strategic oversight, contribute significantly to the smooth operation of advanced desktop systems, and drive technology advancement within the organization, we encourage you to apply and join our collaborative team.
