Risk Manager, Issues & Events - Business Cards & Payments

Job Description:

Business Cards & Payments Risk Managers are experienced and progressive individuals that operate within a highly collaborative team environment to deliver value-added risk management services to our BC&P partners. You will partner with the business to help identify anomalies, and help triage for further escalations into issues and events when necessary. As a Manager for Issues & Events in Capital One’s Business Cards & Payments Risk Operations Management (first line of defense), you will govern the portfolio of Issues and Events owned by our department. You will support our business partners in helping manage and triage any anomalies, to help identify root cause, and look for trends and patterns that help gain insights to share back with our business partners in driving values for our business and customers. In this position, you will work closely with all business partners across BC&P and coordinate with other lines of business as needed, including 2nd line and 3rd line, to closely manage Issues & Events in accordance with Capital One’s policies and procedures, and provide analysis of trends to executives. Additionally, you will collaborate with associates across all lines of defense in further maturing our Issue and Event risk management practices.

Task s and responsibilities include:

  • Oversee the portfolio of all Anomalies, Issues and Events for Business Cards & Payments

  • Partner with Issue & Event managers, owners, and AEs in ensuring that Issues and Events are appropriately documented and managed in accordance with expected timelines and policies

  • Conduct analysis, identify trends, and report on the status of the Anomalies, Issue, and Events program

  • Design and deliver regular training for Issue & Event managers, owners, and AEs on their roles and responsibilities, methodology, and the tools leveraged to manage Issues & Events

  • Identify ways to improve and streamline Issue & Event identification, assessment, and mitigation processes

  • Demonstrate outstanding communication and partnership skills which are essential for interacting and communicating with key stakeholders across all levels to manage, inform, and influence outcomes

  • Maintain awareness of risks, Issues, and Events within all BC&P teams

  • Foster effective partnerships and collaborate with First and Second Line technology and risk management partners

  • Participate in risk and other management forums and contribute to continuous improvement of risk, Issue, and Event management practices

  • Support and possibly lead cross-functional teams through various initiatives

  • Support interactions with Internal Audit and Regulatory agencies related to our work, as applicable

  • Participate in and execute other special projects for the team on a periodic basis

Basic Qualification:

  • Bachelor's Degree or military experience

  • At least 4 years of experience in issue or event management, process quality or audit

  • At least 4 years of experience in root cause development and analysis

  • At least 4 years of experience in risk management or external audit

  • At least 2 years of experience with data tools such as Google Sheets or Tableau

  • At least 2 years of experience working in the financial services industry

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience working in the financial services industry

  • 5+ years of experience in Issue or Event management, process quality, or audit

  • 5+ years of experience with data tools such as Google Sheets or Tableau

  • 5+ years of experience in root cause development and analysis

  • 5 + years of experience with Governance, Risk, and Compliance software tools

  • 1+ years of consulting experience with a Big 4 firm

  • Business Process Management Certification, Six Sigma Certification or Lean Certification

  • Certified Risk Management Assurance (CRMA) or Certified Regulatory Compliance Manager (CRCM)

  • Lean, Agile, Six Sigma, Business Process Management or Project Management Certification

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills including developing and delivering presentations
