Full job description Position Available: Academic Instructor for High School Diploma Program

Will consider candidates currently enrolled in Masters program to peruse NYS teaching certification. Documentation will be required We are seeking a full-time Academic Instructor who is reliable, compassionate, has a great work ethic, and also loves to work with youth! Be the mentor who helps students strive for academic excellence by empowering them to do their best, overcome challenges and work to develop the skills to become lifelong learners.

In this position, you will develop and prepare lesson plans, and administer and correct tests. Identify, select, and modify instructional resources to meet the needs of students with varying backgrounds, learning styles, and special needs. In addition, complete daily attendance and accountability of students.

We are looking for an individual who is well organized with great attention to detail and possesses strong oral and written communication skills. The ability to work as a team member and the ability to be self-motivated is essential for success. The position requires proficiency in the use of computers and common computer software (Microsoft Office and other career options and job search applications).

Qualifications: Bachelors Degree and active New York State Teacher Certification. Waivers are available for applicants with other State credentials and who are in the process of applying for New York State Certification. An equivalent combination of education, vocational training, and/or experience may substitute for the degree requirement on a year-to-year basis. Must possess a New York State Valid Driving License with an acceptable driving record. Compensation is based on experience.

The program helps eligible young people ages 16 through 24 complete their high school education, trains them for meaningful careers, and assists them with obtaining employment. Iroquois Job Corps offers training in the medical trades (Certified Nursing Assistant and Certified Medical Assistant), Bricklaying, Carpentry, Electrical and Paint.
