HSE Specialist

Our national HSE Team is expanding and have a requirement for a HSE Specialist to join our team based in Melbourne. Our national HSE Team support our KBR Infrastructure Solutions Australia business providing support to our workforce and clients within industries covering Energy, Defence, Transport, Sustainability and Water.

As an HSE Specialist you will be part of our integrated HSSE team and will report into the HSSE & Sustainability Director you will be the focal point for Injury Management, Occupational Health and Safety as well as supporting various Zero Harm initiatives across our corporate, client and site-based locations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage occupational health programs to promote employee well-being and safety.

  • Oversee injury management, providing s upport for recovery and return to work processes.

  • Maintain and update the company’s risk register, identifying and mitigating potential hazards.

  • Conduct Health and Safety site visits, validating critical processes and controls are in place and coaching and educating teams where they are not

  • Facilitate HSE workshops and training programs to improve awareness and skills across the organisation.

  • Develop and implement crisis management training.

  • Establish strategy for the regional health, environment and security programs and provide direct input into Safety delivery and strategic planning.

  • Monitor the implementation of HSSE program and initiatives across the business operations in line with company and regulatory requirements.

  • Prepare and deliver targeted improvement initiatives, strategy and capability frameworks.

  • Provide Project and Site work support and verification of KBR process implementation

  • Act as a lead investigator and auditor of the organisation

  • Colloborate across functional teams to promote KBR’s Zero Harm initiatives to promote a culture of safety and compliance.

    Skills & Experience Required:

  • Tertiary qualification in HSSE, minimum Diploma

  • Return to Work Coordinator Accreditation

  • Minimum of 3-5 years’ experience, within an engineering or construction industries with a focus on occupational health and injury management.

  • Strong knowledge of risk management, safety regulations and crisis management.

  • Strong understanding of safety standards.

  • Excellent communication and leadership skills and the ability to interpret information to diverse audiences.

  • Ability to provide appropriate advice and coach management in difficult situations;

  • Ability to travel interstate.

  • Due to KBR’s projects within defence, candidates must hold Permanent residency with the ability to obtain citizenship.
