Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems sector is currently hiring a Guidance Navigation & Controls (GNC) Manager 2 to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This leadership role is located in Melbourne, FL.

The Guidance Navigation & Controls Manager 2 will manage the functional engineering activities of approximately ten GNC Engineers within a program. This position reports to the Flight Sciences Department Manager within the Vehicle Engineering functional homeroom team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Product integrity, process adherence, staffing, training, and tools.

  • Process oversight, participation in the performance review process, management of personnel records and participation in corrective or disciplinary actions.

  • Staffing responsibilities may include hiring, recruiting of personnel and working to ensure that engineers with the appropriate skills and experience are deployed.

  • The ability to manage training opportunities and budget allocations, as well as participation in tool, process, and metric initiatives is required.

  • In addition to functional Section Manager duties, the candidate will perform IPT engineering tasks, which will comprise most of the statement of work.

  • Team engagement is a key focus.

  • The ability to mentor, provide career guidance and coaching, and to lead others is required.

  • This position may require travel.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Must have a Bachelor of Science degree in a STEM discipline AND 9 years of professional/military experience related to aerospace engineering; OR a Master's degree AND 7 years of professional/military experience related to aerospace engineering

  • Must have knowledge of linear control principles and tools to design feedback control systems

  • Must have knowledge of vehicle system-level requirements verification

  • Must have an active DoD Secret clearance or higher that is in-scope with a background investigation completed within the last 6 years or currently enrolled into Continuous Evaluation

  • Must have the ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) clearance

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Current/Active Special Program Access

  • Experience using linear control principles and tools to design feedback control systems

  • Experience using Matlab/Simulink to model dynamic systems for simulation of vehicle performance and stability & control analysis

  • Experience verifying vehicle system level requirements similar to MIL-STD-1797B, SAE-949000, MIL-STD-9490

Salary Range: $131,200 - $196,800

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
