FFP QC QA Laboratory Technician in Melville, New York

JOB SUMMARY: The Laboratory Technician performs administrative and laboratory duties established by the QC/QA Manager. This position requires an individual willing to follow all established regulations, company policies, and cross-train in laboratory equipment, methods, procedures, and sensory evaluations.

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Prepare samples, operate laboratory instrumentation, and analyze results

· Become familiar with how a flavor or a product with a flavor is analyzed

· Create, distribute, and maintain Certificates of Analysis

· Create and maintain internal specification sheets

· Coordinate required testing with third party lab, including creating and distributing transmittal testing forms. Analyze results of this testing

· Ensures proper storage, organization, and disposal of retain samples.

· File laboratory paperwork and understand multiple filing systems

· Train in preparing and performing sensory (organoleptic) evaluations

· Train in performing chemical and physical analyses on various samples, including raw material, intermediate and finished products. Tests include but are not limited to visual inspections, specific gravity, refractive index, flashpoint, brix, pH, moisture, etc.

· Enter and look up information in different system databases

· Report out of specification results in a timely manner to responsible individuals and departments.

· Train in any applicable laboratory instrument calibration activities.

· Follow established Good Manufacturing Practices and Good Laboratory Practices including use of PPE.

· Assist with general lab upkeep; Keep work areas clean and organized

· Assist in QA related task; investigations, inspections, root causes analysis

· Any other reasonable duty assigned by management

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

· Must be able to sit or stand for extended periods of time

· Visual acuity required to perform inspections

Requirements

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

· A bachelor’s degree in chemistry is preferred.

· Prior experience in laboratory setting (1-3 years) preferred

· Ability to make mathematical computations

· Computer literacy required
