Responsibilities If selected for this position, you will join a well-respected team that is responsible for providing a variety of administrative and technical assistance for the United States Attorney's Office (USAO), Western District of Tennessee. Typical work assignments will include: -Assisting with records management and archiving files; -Making purchases of supplies, equipment, and services and maintaining records related to purchases; -Assisting with maintaining property records and conducting inventory. -Manages and controls the usage of government vehicles. Ensures required logs are kept and all required maintenance is performed on schedule. Submits monthly mileage readings as required. Monitors condition of vehicles and informs supervisor of damage or mechanical problems of vehicles. Provides advice to employees on the regulations governing the use of the government vehicle; -Receiving, reviewing, and distributing incoming mail and processing outgoing mail, including applying appropriate postage; -Receiving telephone calls, responding to inquiries, and transferring calls to appropriate personnel; -Receiving and tracking visitors to the office and issuing visitor badges; -Preparing a variety of recurring and special reports, compiling data and obtaining required information; -Making recurring and special messenger trips as necessary. -Responsibilities will increase and assignments will become more complex as your training and experience progress. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications GS-05: To be eligible at the GS-5 level, you must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-4 level in Federal service as defined below; or four years of education above the high school level; or a combination of both specialized experience and education as explained below. Specialized experience is defined as providing clerical support in an office environment by answering multi-line telephone systems, greeting and directing visitors, obtaining information from files or general reference sources, providing factual information, processing incoming, outgoing, and intra-office mail, and maintaining files. Education: Completion of at least four (4) years of education above the high school level. This education must have been obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university. One year of full-time academic study is defined as 30 semester hours, 45 quarter hours, or the equivalent in a college or university, or at least 20 hours of classroom instruction per week for approximately 36 weeks in a business, secretarial, or technical school. Combining Education and Experience: Successfully completed post-high school education may be used to meet the total one year of specialized experience requirement equivalent to the GS-4 grade level. Only education in excess of the first 60 semester hours (i.e., beyond the second year) is creditable toward meeting the specialized experience requirement. One full academic year of study (30 semester hours) beyond the second year is equivalent to 6 months of specialized experience.To be qualified, you must type at least 40 words per minute based on a 5 minute sample with three or fewer errors. (A typing test may later be required.) Interagency Career Transition Assistance Plan (ICTAP)- The ICTAP provides eligible displaced Federal competitive service employees with selection priority over other candidates for competitive service vacancies.
