Fedcap Job Developer in Memphis, Tennessee

Wage/Salary: $48k to $55k.

Position Summary:

The Job Developer for the program will develop and maintain ongoing professional contacts with private, public, nonprofit, and religious/academic organizations to promote and create opportunities for placing participants, explain the financial benefits an employer will receive when hiring or placing a participant, as well as outline the additional employment supports. Job Developers are responsible for matching available jobs with participants' interests and abilities to achieve enough job placements monthly.

Fedcap Inc. is excited to play an integral part in the transformation of Tennessee’s economic absentee employment services initiative in its role as the Services Delivery Coordinator for the Western service area spanning Chester, Crockett, Dyer, Fayette, Gibson, Hardeman, Haywood, Lauderdale, Madison, McNairy, Shelby, and Tipton counties. Fedcap Inc. employees will work in partnership with service partners focused on providing tailored support for unemployed people - including those with a disability (physical, mental, developmental, or acquired), substance abuse disorder, criminal history, health complaint, or vocational deficit - on their journey towards employment and into sustainable work. Our goals are to enhance local capacity while amplifying the good work and best practices already underway.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Build professional relationships with the business community and leverage those relationships to create a pipeline of job openings.

  • Achieve monthly job placement goals by working closely with Client Care Coordinators to place Customers in quality, long-term, unsubsidized jobs.

  • Conduct enough cold calls, foot prospects, and other prospecting activities each day to employers with the express purpose of identifying businesses that are currently hiring and willing to provide preferential treatment to participants.

  • Meet and understand the skills of job seekers to identify barriers to employment, as well as how to best present them to employers. Collecting additional feedback from work readiness staff as appropriate.

  • Assist job seekers in updating their resumes, cover letters, and thank you letter templates

  • Design and create recruitment strategies, including hiring fairs, onsite employer visits, and info sessions.

  • Review Assistance Pathways and Milestone Plans and help participants achieve their employment goals.

  • Develop trusted working relationships with participants,

  • Observe all policies and procedures and attend all required training and certifications as scheduled.

  • Responsible for capturing and recording employment information and then working closely with the participant to diligently verify and report all aspects of Customer milestone achievements to DHS.

  • Stress urgency and ownership, guiding participants through a learn-by-doing process during their service planning and delivery.

  • Collect best practices and conduct training on best practices to subcontracted partners to increase their staff’s skill levels and ability to achieve their contracted targets.

  • Document activities, participation, compliance, and employment progress in the Electronic Case Management (ECM) systems.

  • Assist in compiling data for reports, including but not limited to, Customer timesheets and placement and retention reports.

  • Participate in learning collaboratives through both regional and online conferences.

Education and Experience:

  • A minimum of an associate degree from an accredited college or university

  • A minimum of two (2) years of experience in job development, sales, or related field; and/or work experience determined to be acceptable to the agency.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and other standard business technology is required.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Experience in identifying community resources/services and linking participants to identified resources/services.

Work Environment:

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:

This is a full-time position, and the hours of work and days are typically Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5 p.m. but will be determined by your supervisor. On a rotating basis, one evening and/or one weekend day is required. Role primary is based in the office, with some community, local, and remote work being required.

Travel:

Travel is primarily local during the business day, although some out-of-the-area and overnight travel may be expected.
