Medtronic Principal Facilities Administrative Specialist in Menlo Park, California

The Principal Facilities Administrative Specialist demonstrates quality in all actions; contributes to the delivery of verification services of all facilities equipment/instruments, including those with computer code / embedded software application and hardware, within the company. This role works within the Quality Systems to deliver the verification service in accordance with established procedures. Ensures that facilities equipment, instruments, and utilities are following regulatory body requirements and best practices.

Responsibilities include implementing BMS projects, computerized maintenance management systems, PM process, hand-held sampling equipment, day-day activity management, as well as developing strong partnerships with other technical resources (PM, Engineers, Systems and Support resources).

This position may act as a supporting contact for issues regarding project issues resolution & troubleshooting, audits and product support. Works on problems of moderate scope where analysis of situations or data requires a review of a variety of factors. Exercises judgment within defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate action. Builds productive internal/external working relationships.

Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

  • Plans, and schedules facility modifications, including estimates on equipment, labor, materials and other related costs.

  • Manages service providers.

  • Developing professional expertise, applies company policies and procedures to resolve a variety of issues.

  • Reviews Facilities Pest Control and Cleaning records for conformance to procedures.

  • Participates as SME on internal and external audits for areas managed by facilities department.

  • Develop validation plans, protocols, risk assessments, engineering studies for facilities equipment, instruments and utilities.

  • Generate needed IQOQ/PQ documentation for facilities equipment, utilities and tooling (new and old).

  • Execute needed IQOQ/PQ protocols for facilities equipment, instruments, utilities and tooling.

  • Follows the defined procedures within the quality system.

  • Follows individual detailed schedules with dates for deliverables, prioritizes and monitors activities to meet such dates, make commitments on delivery communicated to the organization.

  • Uses metrics to collect quantitative project data.

  • Address non-conformance / out of tolerance actions for facility tooling and equipment.

  • Participates with project teams in continuous improvement of maintenance processes.

  • Develop corrective plans and implement corrective actions.

Must Have: Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required.

  • Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in Facilities / Quality / Regulated Industry or advanced degree with 5 years of relevant experience in Facilities, Quality or Regulated Industry

Nice to Have

  • Bachelors Degree in Mechanical, Electrical or Chemical Engineering or Technical Sciences.

  • 5+ years of Medical Device / Pharmaceutical experience.

  • Familiarity with the principles of Facilities Maintenance and Engineering.

  • Ability to understand electrical and mechanical drawings within the facilities system.

  • Ability to create and track a facility drawing maintenance vault.

  • Planning skills applicable to verification and validation activities.

  • Knowledge of ISO Class Cleanroom Environments and cGMP principles.

  • Excellent written, verbal and oral communication skills.

  • Knowledge of EH&S fundamentals and OSHA requirements.

The provided base salary range is used nationally (except in certain CA locations). The rate offered is compliant with federal/local regulations and may vary by experience, certification/education, market conditions, location, etc.
