Description

A.T. Still University's School of Osteopathic Medicine in Arizona (ATSU-SOMA) is seeking a full-time exempt Clinical Education Department (CED) Director on the Mesa, Arizona campus. This position will oversee the Clinical Education Department to ensure student clinical experiences meet and exceed Commission on Osteopathic College Accreditation (COCA) Standards. They will also serve as a communication liaison for the Dean and Assistant Dean of Clinical Education with all partnering clinical sites and their staff to ensure all operational aspects of the CED, clinical rotations, and COCA standards are met.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Manage all aspects of the regional program goals and objectives and ensure efficiency, accuracy, and compliance with requirements and policies.

  • Explore and analyze options, develop administrative and operating policies, and formulate directives.

  • Directly supervise the Clinical Education Coordinators (CEC) to ensure performance evaluations are completed in a timely manner.

  • Coaching and engagement of the Clinical Education Department (CED) team to ensure efficiency, accuracy, and excellence in all workflows for the Clinical Education Coordinators (CECs), Credentialing Coordinators, Affiliation Agreement Coordinators, and Regional Education Coordinators (RECs).

  • Conduct weekly CED meetings with CECs, Credentialing Coordinators, and Affiliation Agreement Coordinator, be responsible for the agenda, and assign taking of minutes between members. Be responsible for filing and storing meeting minutes of weekly CED meetings.

  • Conduct CED-REC meetings. Be responsible for the agenda and assign taking of minutes between members. Be responsible for storing meeting minutes of the CED-REC monthly meetings.

  • Conduct monthly (at a minimum) 1:1 rounding meetings with CECs, Credentialing Coordinators, and Affiliation Agreement coordinators to ensure engagement and excellence. Conduct rounding meetings with team members more often to address performance improvement concerns as they arise.

  • Attend all meetings where CED participation is required, including (but not limited to): RDME-REC meetings, CED meetings, CED-REC meetings, Faculty and Staff meetings, Professional Development meetings, and Professional Development Week.

  • Meet monthly with the Assistant Dean of Clinical Education and as needed.

  • Complete all leadership training as required by ATSU HR in a timely manner.

  • Understand all policies related to FERPA and ensure all CEDs and those working with students have received training.

  • Report any FERPA-related issues are reported in a timely manner, and appropriate follow-up and documentation are completed.

  • Continually update CED workflows and ensure that work instructions and/or training are communicated in a timely manner to RECs and RDMEs as needed

  • In collaboration with the Assistant Dean, ensure the Clinical Education Manual is reviewed annually and updates are proposed to the Assistant Dean to ensure the most up-to-date COCA standards are met.

  • In collaboration with the Assistant Dean, plan, budget, and order preceptor appreciation items (i.e., plaques, ATSU-related items ‘swag’).

  • Continually update the eValue Homepage to ensure the most up-to-date links, documents, and training information is maintained.

  • Collect any needed information from clinical partner sites for accreditation or reporting, and as requested by the Dean and Assistant Dean of Clinical Education.

  • Understand and serve as lead administrative person for the eValue platform.

Education & Experience:

  • Masters Degree and five or more years of management and clinical education experience required.

  • Proven track record in a highly productive professional office setting.

  • Preferred: Experience in a university or health care institution.

  • Excellent computer skills with good working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint.

  • Knowledgeable of Google email functions, electronic calendars, and internet search engines.

  • Effective time management skills, excellent writing, proofing, and editing abilities.

  • Professional office and phone etiquette.
