Job Description

As an Senior Front End Engineer in AbbVie Business Technology Solutions (BTS), you’ll have opportunities to contribute to the digital transformation of a leading biopharma company, helping to create solutions that impact patients and their communities for the better.

This is a hybrid role based in Lake County, IL

Responsibilities

  • Developing front end applications with the latest web technologies.

  • Developing front end applications that supports web and mobile interfaces.

  • Applying latest UX and UI concepts and best practices.

  • Stay updated on industry trends and emerging technology solutions relevant to the assigned business area.

  • Advise business stakeholders on the most appropriate and optimal approaches to achieve their objectives, which may involve technology solutions, process changes, or other options.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop comprehensive project estimates and timelines by gathering input and feedback from all relevant stakeholders. Engage with IT and business functions to negotiate and secure the necessary resources.

  • Create and maintain system and project documentation, such as change requests, functional requirements, test plans, data migration plans, and cutover plans. Delegate relevant tasks to junior analysts as appropriate.

  • Validate the database design and ensure technical specifications are complete, consistent, concise, and feasible.

  • Review data models for development projects and assist team members in understanding and adhering to established standards.

  • Coordinate and submit ServiceNow requests for new database accounts, permissions, and collaborate with DBAs for approval.

  • Provide documentation of technical standards and best practices, incorporating contributions from team members.

  • Collaborate with project development teams on the SDLC (Software Development Life Cycle) and code promotion process.

  • Manage and approve system access and conduct regular recertification exercises to maintain system and data security.

  • Review effort estimates for all activities including analysis, documentation, development, testing, bug fixing, deployment, and support.

  • Significant Work Activities -Continuous sitting for prolonged periods (more than 2 consecutive hours in an 8-hour day

Tools and skills you will use in this role:

Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor’s Degree with at least 5 years’ experience; master’s degree with 4 years’ experience OR equivalent work experience

  • Excellent programming skills in core web stack technologies like HTML, CSS and JavaScript.

  • Experience developing application in Vue.js

  • Working extensively with charts and graph frameworks like chart.js, google charts etc.

  • Proven experience working with a full-scale front-end application that connect with middle-tier / webservices.

  • Experience in developing node.js application and using express.js

  • Salesforce knowledge and working on force.com platform.

  • Ability to develop and host application on cloud systems like AWS or Azure.

  • Ability to gather requirements and develop and prepare use cases, functional specifications, mapping documents for data integration, and technical requirements for data warehouse applications.

  • Ability to work with IT and business teams to coordinate multiple IT projects in the sales planning area.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

Beneficial:

  • Knowledge in other UI frameworks like Angular or React

  • Knowledge in DevOps concepts and how code promotions are done via build pipelines.

  • Strong understanding of the pharmaceutical industry and related data

  • Experience working with Life Sciences Sales Planning and Sales Operations Teams.

  • Experience in containerization technologies like Docker / Kubernetes

  • Ability to develop and host application on cloud systems like AWS or Azure.
