The Division of Nuclear Medicine in the Department of Radiology at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine is seeking to fill a full-time faculty position at the rank of Division Director Associate and/or Professor level (Dual Boarded) . The Division Director of Nuclear Medicine will be responsible for leading and supervising the clinical operation and academic functions of the Nuclear Medicine Division within Radiology Department at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine (UMSOM) and Jackson Health Services (JHS). The successful candidate will be tasked with ensuring that the Division maintains a highly competitive status within a top-tier institution . Facility resources include a state-of-the-art PET/CT, SPECT/CT and gamma camera equipment, with associated computer hardware and software for dedicated nuclear medicine post-processing and advanced analysis. Newer additions include capabilities for Artificial Intelligence integration into the workflow.

Job Functions

  • Provide clinical oversight and leadership to the nuclear medicine division, including study interpretation.

  • Lead the growth and expansion of the nuclear medicine clinical operation and services across UHealth.

  • Manage/develop a team of physicians, residents/fellows, technologists, and support staff (e.g. hiring, training, evaluating performance). This includes proposing mentorship and research initiatives.

  • Ensure regulatory and accreditation compliance, including maintaining appropriate licensure and certification.

  • Coordinate with faculty/staff and departmental leadership to streamline patient care and operational efficiency.

  • Develop and implement clinical programs to ensure the highest level of patient care and safety.

  • Foster a culture of excellence by promoting professional development, research, and superior education.

  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives to improve patient outcomes and operational efficiency.

  • Collaborate with other healthcare providers and stakeholders to ensure effective coordination of care.

  • Manage and coordinate Nuclear Medicine therapies across UHealth’s system, such as multidisciplinary workups and therapies in the realm of Theranostics, including experimental treatments.

  • Multidisciplinary collaboration for clinical and innovation initiatives with other departments, such as: Medical Oncology, Cardiology, Radiation Oncology, Endocrinology, and others to foster common approaches.

  • Successfully lead the Division of Nuclear Medicine in supporting the departmental and institutional objectives for excellence in the arenas of: clinical, teaching and education, research, administration, service, citizenship.

  • Responsibilities of the candidate include providing interpretations of plain film, CT and MR studies, from multiple facilities, including Jackson Memorial Hospital.

  • Provide clinical care/consultation, teaching of trainees, service, and potential involvement in research.

  • Participation in grand rounds, journal clubs, multidisciplinary conferences. Able to serve on departmental and institutional committees.

  • Recruiting, training, and mentoring other faculty and staff physicians.

  • Conducting research and publishing papers in academic journals.

  • Representing the university at conferences and delivering presentations when necessary.

  • Teaching and supervising undergraduate and graduate students

  • Attending faculty and departmental meetings and voicing concerns or providing suggestions for improvement.

    Qualifications

  • Medical Doctor degree and board certification in both Diagnostic Radiology (ABR) and Nuclear Medicine (ABNM). Dual Boarded.

  • Academic rank of Associate or Full Professor.

  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in nuclear medicine interpretation and reporting.

  • Experience in managing a team of physicians, scientists, residents/fellows, technologists, and support staff.

  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements and accreditation standards related to nuclear medicine.

  • Strong communication and collaboration skills. Track record of multidisciplinary research.

  • Demonstrated commitment to high quality patient care and safety. A track record of developing tailored diagnostic and therapeutic nuclear medicine regimens in complex clinical scenarios will be noted.

  • Ability to think critically, solve complex problems, and to interact and communicate effectively.

  • Experience with clinical program development and implementation.

  • Expertise in the interpretation and reporting of nuclear medicine studies, as well as experience in managing a team of physicians, scientists, residents/fellows, technologists, and support staff.

  • Excellent nuclear medicine background with working experience in all facets of nuclear medicine, molecular imaging and radiopharmaceutical therapies.

  • A vision in the burgeoning realm of Theranostics is highly desired, which the candidate should be prepared to articulate.

  • Resident/Fellow education and training in nuclear medicine is another critical aspect. .

  • Experience in Radiopharmaceutical Therapy and Theranostics is highly desired as the Division is quite active in conventional and new therapies for thyroid cancer, lymphoma, neuroendocrine tumors, and prostate cancer, to name a few.

  • Excellence in academic achievement as demonstrated by a record of scientific presentation and/or publications.

The successful applicant will join a group of six Nuclear Medicine Radiologists who practice at Jackson Memorial Hospital and the University of Miami Hospital and Clinics.
