The department of Medicine, division of Infectious Diseases has an exciting opportunity for a part-time Research Associate 2 to work on the UHealth campus. The Research Associate 2 supports research activities under the direction of a principle investigator, program director or designee of the principle investigator or program director.

CORE FUNCTIONS

  • Strong clinical research data management skills.

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.

  • Ability to maintain and update study records and databases.

  • Ability to respond to data queries in a timely manner.

  • Ability to record procedures and results in participant binders and databases per study protocols.

  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements and standards.

  • Ability to ensure the accuracy, completeness, and consistency of clinical research data.

  • Ability to conduct quality control checks on clinical research data.

  • Ability to perform basic descriptive analysis of clinical research data where appropriate.

  • Ability to generate reports and present data to investigators for continuing reviews or other progress reports as needed.

  • Participation in the development of data collection instruments for study protocols and other research documents and operations.

  • Participates in training sessions and workshops.

  • Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.

  • Works under the supervision of the research manager for the above and other duties as assigned.

DEPARTMENT SPECIFIC FUNCTIONS

  • Performs specialized and complex experiments/studies.

  • Participates in the publication of significant research results.

  • Advances expertise through education, training, and research.

  • Writes extramural grants/proposals to gain support when appropriate.

  • Collects, prepares, analyzes, dissects, and evaluates specimens and tissue cultures.

  • Weighs and anesthetizes laboratory animals for experiments.

  • Operates sensitive and highly complex laboratory equipment.

  • Performs calculations to complete research test results.

  • Performs photography and dark room processing.

  • Participates in training sessions and workshops.

  • Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.

CORE QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s Degree in relevant field

  • Minimum 2 years of relevant experience

  • Ability to exercise sound judgment in making critical decisions.
