Position Profile
As a Senior Transit/Rail Project Manager, you will lead multidisciplinary teams to shape and deliver vital transit projects throughout Florida. Your role will be instrumental in planning, mentoring staff, and collaborating with the Florida Infrastructure Group to ensure our projects meet the highest standards and deliver outstanding results. Familiarity with the Federal Transit Administration (FTA), Federal Railroad Administration (FRA), and Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) regulations will be key to your success.
A Day in the Life:
Strategic Leadership: Oversee transportation and transit planning, conduct environmental analyses, and guide design reviews to ensure successful project execution.
Technical Expertise: Author critical reports and submissions to federal, state, and local agencies, including NEPA analyses.
Analytical Review: Assist in the preparation and evaluation of STOPS and RTC models, focusing on transit capital and operations costs.
Project Administration: Manage submittals, compliance evaluations, and coordinate support personnel and subconsultants to streamline project workflows.
Collaboration & Communication: Work closely with local governments, regional agencies, and transit authorities, facilitating effective project delivery.
Scope Development: Craft detailed project scopes and accurately estimate resource requirements.
Client Engagement: Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, actively participating in meetings to discuss project goals and progress.
Performance Evaluation: Collaborate with leadership to assess project performance and identify areas for improvement.
Diverse Involvement: Engage with a variety of projects across transit, freight, and passenger rail, including Commuter Rail and Bus Rapid Transit initiatives.
Business Development: Prepare compelling RFP responses, represent Hanson in interviews, and actively participate in marketing efforts to drive growth.

What You Bring to the Table:
Technical Skills:
In-depth knowledge of transportation planning and federal regulations; proficient in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Proven project management experience in transit and transportation studies.
Familiarity with FTA, FRA, FDOT, T/MPOs, and local government processes.
Experience in related fields such as public engagement, rail systems, and environmental planning.
Soft Skills:
Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts clearly and effectively.
Strong relationship-building skills to foster collaboration with clients and project teams.
Self-motivated and adaptable, capable of thriving both independently and as part of a team, whether in-office or remotely.
Willingness to travel for day trips or evening meetings, with flexibility for varying hours based on project needs.
Education & Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, urban/regional planning, environmental planning, or transportation engineering.
A minimum of 10 years of progressive transportation experience, particularly in transit and rail projects.
An active Professional Engineer license in Florida or AICP designation is desirable but not required.
Involvement in relevant technical societies and organizations is a plus.
