Position Specific Description

The Grid Control Systems Department is looking for a Senior Engineer Tech Applications to join their team in Miami, FL.

This position is for an individual contributor reporting to a functional team within the Transmission & Substation (T&S) Grid Control Systems organization. The position is responsible for the planning, development, application architecture, implementation, and operations of grid control systems and corresponding applications, which include but are not limited to, Energy Management System (EMS), Distribution Management System (DMS), Supervisory Control & Data Acquisition (SCADA), and Residential/Commercial/Industrial Demand Side Management (DSM) systems in support of the (T&S) Business Unit. Development of these systems include modifying and/or de-commissioning or commissioning the associated applications, programs, and software and are required to comply with national/regional standards (e. g., FERC Orders, NERC Standards, etc.).

The end results from the effort put in by a person in this position include, but not limited to the following:

• Highly available grid control systems (or Emerging Technology) and applications that meet or exceed development or operational targets,

• Compliant cybersecurity and protection processes of grid control systems and applications,

• Strong customer relationships to the organization’s internal and external customers, and

• Efficient execution of work plan and related activities in the systems development and/or maintenance and support of grid control systems and applications to meet or exceed objectives.

The selected candidate for this role will also support storm duties as assigned.

Working knowledge of Power Systems include network topology and system modeling is highly preferred.

Job Overview

This position is responsible for the planning, development, application architecture, engineering, implementation, and operations of grid monitoring and control systems and corresponding applications.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • Develops systems including modifying and/or de-commissioning or commissioning the associated applications, programs, and software and ensure compliance with national/regional standards

  • Supports department emerging technologies strategic opportunities and solutions through planning, development, engineering, application architecture, implementation, and operations of

  • Coordinates or contributes to assigned work plans

  • Executes systems planning, systems development, operational, and/or maintenance activities of the systems and applications associated with the grid monitoring and control systems and/or emerging technology

  • Performs work tasks to ensure reliable performance (availability and integrity) or project delivery of systems and applications associated with grid monitoring and control systems and emerging technology

  • Supports and executes the requirements of FRCC Reliability Coordinator Operations per Company /FRCC Agent Agreement

  • Ensures compliance with the NERC Reliability Standards related to the System Control Center with special emphasis on availability and integrity of grid monitoring and control systems and applications

  • Executes Operational Excellence goals and initiatives

  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s - Engineering

  • Experience: 5+ years

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree

  • Certified Professional Engineer (PE)

  • Six Sigma Green Belt Certified

  • Six Sigma Black Belt Certified

  • Six Sigma Master Black Belt
