The University of Miami/UHealth Department of SCCC has an exciting opportunity for a Full Time Senior Research Associate 2 to work at our UHealth Medical Campus in Miami, FL. The Senior Research Associate 2 (second level research position, track one) supports research activities under the direction of a principle investigator, program director or designee of the principle investigator or program director.

CORE JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Contributes to basic and applied research activities by collecting and analyzing data, maintaining databases etc...

  • Understands and interprets research protocols and procedures

  • Participates in the publication of significant results, to include authorship of scientific monographs

  • Advances expertise through continued education, training and/or research.

  • Maintains an overview of relevant research findings.

  • Ensures all research is undertaken according to good research practice and guidance.

DEPARTMENT SPECIFICS:

  • Provide technical assistance and services to Cancer Center investigators on funded research projects, e.g., recruitment and retention strategies, developing and testing recruitment materials, and questionnaires, assisting in research training activities, and monitoring data collection and management.

  • Help establish and maintain a network of community partners with whom Cancer Center investigators can collaborate in conducting research and facilitate collaborative relationships between investigators and community partners.

  • Provide supervision and training on research activities to other BCSR staff, BCSR users’ team members, graduate students, and volunteers.

  • Maintain reporting needs as established by the IRB, HIPAA, HSRO, DSMC, and funding/sponsored agencies as needed including continuing reports, amendments, modifications, reportable events, and deviations.

  • Perform electronic medical chart reviews upon participation enrollment and completion using EPIC/CERNER and update VELOS with participants status.

  • Serve as project liaison between shared resource staff and various service users, other departments, outside organizations, and external sites.

  • Provide consultations to PI’s who are interested on BCSR services.

  • Carry out billing processes and invoicing for BCSR services.

  • Establish and facilitate Community Advisory Boards for specific research projects and assist the BCSR Managers with any Community Advisory Board activities.

  • Conduct and/or coordinate focus groups, behavioral interventions, and administer survey instruments related to specific research projects.

  • Coordinate subcontracts between the University of Miami and community partners collaborating on funded research projects.

  • Present cancer and socio-demographic data and help disseminate research findings to both professional and community audiences.

  • Maintain knowledge of local, state and national initiatives that address cancer disparities and campus-community partnerships.

  • Able to accommodate a changing work schedule and travel to different locations in the Tri-County area.

  • Able to handle multiple studies simultaneously.

  • Knowledge and understanding of research methodology, cancer epidemiology, social determinants of health, health promotion and disease prevention strategies, concepts of cultural competency and basic statistics preferred.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.

  • Excellent English skills, both oral and written required.

  • Excellent Spanish skills, both oral and written required.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.
