The University of Miami/UHealth Department of Medical Wellness and Recreation has an exciting opportunity for a full-time Supervisor, Wellness Training to work in Miami, FL. The supervisor, wellness training leads a group of fitness employees to ensure high levels of employee engagement, motivation, efficiency, and productivity. Moreover, the incumbent oversees fitness and wellness programs.

CORE JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Assumes responsibility for the creation and management of fitness, intervention, and retention programs.

  • Maintains records of member statistics regarding assigned programs.

  • Develops structured fitness evaluations and programs, including, but not limited, to fitness assessments, progressive exercise programs, and one-on-one training sessions.

  • Oversees hiring process for vacancies.

  • Coordinates training and continuing education opportunities for fitness employees for development purposes.

  • Coordinates fitness employees work schedules to ensure proper coverage of facility.

  • Develops and executes new fitness programs and continuously assesses business needs.

  • Schedules and provides fitness assessments, one-on-ones, and personal training sessions to members when staff is overbooked.

  • Establishes and continuously assesses the effectiveness of the internal controls within the unit and compliance with University policies and procedures. Ensures employees are trained on controls within the function and on University policy and procedures.

Department Specific Functions

  • Supervises part-time fitness employees, such as personal trainers, instructors, and interns.

  • Develops and leads fitness workshops and programs such as small group training, special population exercise programs, fitness challenges and events for members, University employees, and patient referrals.

  • Handles program intake, such as matching referrals to the appropriate trainer, program, and/or service, and oversees client account maintenance.

  • Performs fitness assessments and testing in the lab and provides consultations for members, University employees, and patients.

  • Conducts outreach to increase program referrals.

  • Assists manager in compiling and evaluating program data to determine effectiveness of programs and services.

  • Leverages health and wellness expertise to align program needs with strategic marketing plans.

  • Collaborates with internal and external partners to develop educational content that reflects evidence-based industry standards and supports overall department goals.

  • Keeps up with industry standards and best practices and maintains professional development through various resources such as continuing education courses and webinars.

  • Demonstrates proficiency in using Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace. Ability to learn and use the Department’s recreation management system efficiently is required. Experience with Qualtrics and other essential technology tools and software preferred.

  • Maintains HIPAA standards for client records and files, including electronic medical records in UChart (EPIC) as necessary.

  • CPR/AED certification required, may be obtained during onboarding process.

  • Other job-related duties as assigned.

CORE QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s Degree in relevant field required.

  • NCCA-Accredited Personal Training, Strength and Conditioning, and/or Exercise Physiologist certification required.

  • Minimum 2 years of relevant experience

  • Knowledge of business and management principles.

  • Ability to direct, manage, implement, and evaluate department operations.

  • Ability to establish department goals, and objectives that support the strategic plan.

  • Ability to effectively plan, delegate and/or supervise the work of others.

  • Ability to lead, motivate, develop, and train others.

    Any relevant education, certifications and/or work experience may be considered.
