Job Description:
Position Summary:
Lead
This role is responsible for completing maintenance projects and specialized maintenance needs within assigned area. Ensure compliance with Company safety policies as well as legal compliance with applicable laws and regulations. May be responsible to oversee the day-to-day activities and workload of associates within the department. Mentors, trains, coordinates, and assigns the work of subordinate diesel mechanics.
Here’s what you’ll do:
Responsible for completing maintenance projects and specialized maintenance needs within assigned area (i.e., HVAC, ThermoKing, DOT inspections) in a timely and accurate manner.
Ensure compliance with Company safety policies as well as legal compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
Monitor maintenance spend.
Provide expert technical knowledge within applicable role.
Dismantle, install and repair parts, electrical apparatus, mechanical and/or refrigeration systems and/or components equipment and machinery within assigned area.
Assemble and test equipment/systems to ensure correction of necessary repairs and maintenance.
Ensure accurate and timely documentation of maintenance records.
Maintain a safe and clean working environment.
Work with distribution director and operations management on an on-going basis regarding workload planning and priorities, financial performance (budget and expenses) and special projects.
Oversee the day-to-day activities and workload of associates within the department as appropriate.
Assist with and/or oversee the maintenance of basic preventative, routine and corrective maintenance responsibilities.
Maintain current knowledge of regulations and laws within assigned area (i.e., DOT, OSHA, EPA, etc.) to ensure compliance.
Additional responsibilities may be assigned as needed.
Here’s what you’ll need:
Commercial Driver's License A or B (strongly preferred)
Four years mechanical/machinery/facility maintenance experience as applicable to assigned area.
Must be able to work up to sixty (60) hours per week including nights and weekends.
Good organization and prioritization skills.
Technical certification and/or specialize certification within assigned area required (i.e., HVAC, ThermoKing, 608 certification, etc. as applicable to the role).
Must have strong knowledge and experience with OSHA, EAP and RMP standards, regulations and requirements, and working experience with industrial equipment, and building maintenance.
Must have strong knowledge and experience with OSHA and DOT standards, regulations and requirements, and working experience with diesel tractor/trailer mechanics.
Proficiency in the use of mechanical tools required.
Must have necessary mechanic tools to maintain and repair machinery and equipment.
Ability to read schematics.
Good communication skills, written and verbal, to communicate and/or document maintenance needs and status of projects.
Must be able to take direction from supervisor(s) and works well with others.
Ability to lead day-to-day activities and adapt to change.
Must work well under pressure, and is able to organize and prioritize work assignments, and meet established deadlines.
Must perform assigned tasks accurately and completely.
Must be flexible and able to handle changes in work requirements productively.
608 and 609 ceritification required
Knowledge of welding practice and procedures with welding certifications or the ability obtain certifications.

While performing the duties of this position, employees are subject to a warehouse environment and may frequently be exposed to changes in temperature and humidity based on assignment. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to high. Employees must be able to work weekends, holidays, days and night hours, and overtime as necessary and as assigned, and must be able to work in the condition specified for 8-10 hours shift as assigned. Travel requirements vary by assignment.
