Kelly Services Quantity Survey Technician in Midland, Michigan

Kelly Engineering is currently seeking an experienced Quantity Survey Technician in the Midland, Michigan area! The Quantity Survey Technician will audit contractor field work against applicable specifications and provide discipline-specific technical support and consultation to ensure contractor companies are compliant with required rules and regulations. They will evaluate contractor work on overall performance to guarantee services received meet or exceed compliance with contractual obligation to quality, quantity, and safety standards.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Follows safety requirements and expectations, demonstrates model behavior in the application of these requirements and expectations, and appropriately reinforces behaviors in the field.

  • Perform safety observations and interventions

  • Audit all scaffolding, insulation, and paint coatings for quality, quantity, and safety

  • Site focal point for Dow Global Paint Program to complete assessments on tanks/piping paint grade/condition and coordinate work to be completed

  • Provides data to the Contract Administrator to enable him/her to maintain detail knowledge of all field audits and defects

  • Provide discipline-specific technical support and consultation to assigned projects

  • Responsible for daily field audits and documentation

  • Prepares survey reports.

  • Supports stakeholders in maintenance and purchasing.

  • Provide administrative support and oversee the Dow vehicle fleet and fuel program, including ensuring vehicle documentation meets government guidelines

  • Maintain internal databases for inventory tracking and compliance

Required qualifications:

  • A high school diploma or equivalent

  • 2+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment

  • No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position, including for any type of U.S. permanent residency (green card) process

  • The employee is expected to perform his/her duties mostly in the field environment. He/she is expected to spend at least 60% of the work day outside in the field.

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts

  • The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, sit, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.

  • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.

  • While completing tasks, the employee is regularly required to use hands and fingers to feel or handle objects, tools or controls and reach with hands and arms.

  • Typical environments have many obstructions/challenges related to the routine task of walking. These challenges include, but are not limited to, uneven work surfaces, mud and obstructions on the ground, etc. The employee must be able to safely walk and maneuver around these obstructions/challenges.

  • Knowledge of the assigned discipline specifications and standard practices

  • Leadership capability and good communication skills; both written and verbal.

  • Conflict resolution skills to achieve timely and constructive solutions to personal and technical differences.

  • Demonstration of the ability to solve problems and make competent decisions.

  • In-depth knowledge of local, state and governmental laws and regulations

  • Ability to assess productive and safe performance of all contract workers

  • Read and comprehend simple instructions and short correspondences

  • Communicate and report, written and orally, in an effective manner

  • Ability to read and comprehend written specifications, manufactures recommendations and Dow's procedures.

  • Computer proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, SAP
