Tarana Wireless Senior Hardware Diagnostic and Testing Manager in Milpitas, California

Our hardware engineering department is looking for an experienced and dedicated leader to own hardware and system quality assurance over the entire product life cycle. As a Senior Manager of HW Quality Assurance, you will work collaboratively with cross-functional engineering teams, develop and lead a high-performance team to explore challenging areas, plan and execute hardware and system tests and test automation, and deliver high-quality products to customers.

  The ideal candidate should be a highly experienced and hands-on technical leader who can develop, continuously improve, and execute HQA strategies and detailed test plans for each function/performance area. Through your leadership, HW test expertise, and RF domain knowledge, you will guide engineers to develop HW diagnostics software and test automation scripts. Your guidance will be instrumental in ensuring the efficient execution of hardware tests and diagnostics whenever issues arise.

Scope of Work and Responsibilities: 

  • Define hardware test strategy and test solutions for new products and returned product troubleshooting. Guide the team to develop detailed test plans for new product features and failures from the field

  • Lead and advise a team of engineers to build diagnostic software and automate the test and troubleshooting processes. Provide tools for all the cross-functional teams to use for HW tests and troubleshooting

  • Deliver comprehensive plans for new hardware product integration and existing product cost reduction at the system level where hardware, software, and RF are involved

  • Create reliable and trustworthy test reports/presentations, including test results, analysis, and conclusions.

  • Come up with continuous optimizations to improve test coverage and quality, and reduce test costs and time. Drive initiatives to improve test processes, increase efficiency, and reduce cycle times

  • Drive cross-functional collaboration and communication across teams, ensuring that information and best practices are shared effectively for hardware quality assurance

  • Identify and evaluate new technologies, tools, and methodologies to enhance test systems and automation capabilities

     

    Required Skills and Experience: 

  • Strong technical background and multidisciplinary knowledge in hardware, firmware, and/or RF product development is a must

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent field with 12-15 years of relevant experience

  • 5-8 years of experience leading hardware development and/or test teams

  • 12-15 years of experience in hardware and/or firmware development, verification, validation, certification, and qualification.

  • Solid understanding of hardware/software integration, embedded systems, and electronic components. Needs to be a quick learner. Can learn and understand a complex system quickly, debug and diagnose issues and failures.

  • Extensive knowledge and expertise in test methodologies, test automation frameworks, and common lab test equipment

  • Demonstrated ability to lead and inspire diverse and inclusive teams in a leadership capacity

  • Proficiency with Linux bash shell and Python scripting, familiarity with tools such as Confluence and JIRA

  • Wireless/telecommunication systems knowledge and experiences preferred

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Needs to be in office full-time

     

    The salary range for this position is: $185,000 to $240,000

    Compensation will be determined based on several factors including, but not limited to: skill set, years of experience and the employee’s geographic location.
