Job Summary The Community Development Mortgage Loan Officer is responsible for establishing and maintaining effective community relationships with Realtors, not-for-profits, and governmental agencies which result in lending opportunities related to CRA and Fair Lending. Incumbent is responsible for sourcing and managing community lending and diverse market program initiatives with internal and external partners, which generate mortgage loans that impact the Banks CRA and Fair Lending performance. Initiatives include local affordable housing lending assistance programs, homebuyer seminars, and other special programs as approved. Loan Officer is expected to call on government sponsored entities and (private) not-for-profit housing agencies supporting low-to-moderate income housing interests and initiatives in the markets they serve. Goal is to originate and process 1-4 family residential real estate mortgage loans and develop long-lasting full-service banking relationships. Incumbent counsels borrowers to ensure they acquire a loan product appropriate to their circumstances. Assesses with customer the best options for the customers needs and makes appropriate recommendations. Analyzes the prospective borrowers income and debt, counsels borrower on credit record or other problems, and pre-qualifies the borrower. Cultivate and maintain key market relationships focusing on goals related to CRA and Fair Lending growth and expansion. Jointly with internal leadership and external community partners, proactively develop strategies for measurable community and economic development activities and initiatives. Focus of origination efforts will be on underserved, low- and moderate-income population. Research, then develops and maintains relationships with, organizations and agencies within designated market area which are focused on providing services to low- and moderate-income communities. Represents the Bank in community-based meetings and initiatives which have a primary focus of providing services to low- and moderate-income communities. Prequalifies borrowers using standard underwriting procedures. Counsel customers on home buying and financing process. Develops and maintains personal loan pipeline. Works with Loan Processor to facilitate underwriting and processing phases of loans. Answers telephone and written inquiries concerning active loans and Bank loan offerings. Cross-sells financial institution products and services as appropriate. Maintain confidentiality and security of sensitive information. Adhere to all corporate policies and procedures, Federal and State regulations and laws. Complete all mandatory annual compliance training. Perform other duties and special projects as assigned. Follow regulatory requirements including those pertaining to the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), Anti-Money Laundering (AML), Customer Identification Program (CIP), and OFAC to assist in the identification, detection and determent of money laundering and other unlawful activities, as well as regulations pertaining to lending and consumer compliance to include fair lending laws. Job Requirements Education: High school diploma or equivalent required. Required: 3 years of experience required as a retail loan originator, processor, sales assistant or equivalent experience with a proven sales record. Good basic computer skills. Must be bondable, and valid drivers license. Ability to understand and use bank loan policies and procedures to support positive customer interactions. Ability to communicate effectively with customers, staff, and the general public in a positive, problem-solving manner. Ability to listen to and convey accurately and quickly, detailed information, important instructions and/or ideas. Ability to think and act independently within guidelines and lim tations of bank policy and assigned personal authority. Proficient in Microsoft Office products. Preferred: College degree in related field.
